I have Cricut, do I need Sizzix or Cuttlebug?

    Hi everyone...

I just wanted some thoughts on this. I have the Cricut baby bug, which i love. However, sometimes the scrapbook/craft stores in my area will have Sizzix and Cuttlebug on sale and I admit, it's tempting.

Since I have Cricut, are the other 2 products needed or would it basically be having just duplicate abilities?

I have thought of getting either one of them, but at the same time, if Cricut does the same thing to an extent, I'm not sure if it's worth the money.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

I was just about to ask about the Cuttlebug. It's on sale right now at HL. I was wondering if it's a good machine to have or if I should hold off until I can afford a Cricut.

I love my Cuttlebug for embossing. I do have some of their die-cuts, but not a lot. And I have a sizzix too. But I don't pull it out much, except if I am cutting clipboard, felt or foam, which the cricut will not cut.

PS, I have two Cricuts. I love diecuts

Well, I want something that can cut alphabets in the colors I want. It's so hard to find chipboard, cardstock or sticker alphabets to match my layouts.

My mom has the cricut and I love borrowing it and plan on saving for the new expression. I just borrowed her sizzix. I havent used it yet, but to be honest I dont think I will buy one just because I think I can get the cricut to do the same thing. If it were me..save your money for the cricut, it does so much more.

Well, all I have to say is if anybody ever wants to find a good home for one of their die cut machines, I am willing to give it a loving home. LOL

I have both the cricut and the cuttlebug. I use the cricut for cutting things out, and I pretty much only use the cuttlebug for embossing. I have the sizzix and Fiskars embossing templates and I use those a lot. I also have a few dies and embossing templates from cuttlebug that I use on occasion. I agree if you are only looking for die cutters, go with the cricut it does so much more. The biggest factor for me is that it does different sizes.

i never had any other diecut machine except my baby bug...i think it's the best thing since sliced bread.....lol. i have seen the one you mentioned be used and it seems like a lot of work. i have seem it used for texturing/embossing which is cool, but i think it would be cheaper to get a texturing mat and tool set seperately. i suggest saving your money for a cricut...it changed how i scrapped for the better and i use it all the time.

I have the cricut and the original sizzix, which I got used. Anyway, I've NEVER used my sizzix!

Sizzix and Cutte bug-like products are COMPLETELY different thant the Cricut! I have a Cuttle bug, whch takes Cuttlebug, Sizzix, and QuicKutz products in it. It is very versatile. You buy a "die"--(a form for a cut-out of a shape like a heart, a circle, etc.) Then you run it manually through the machine with a piece of cardstock or paper, and it cuts that shape. The Cuttlebug also has embossing folders in 3 sizes. Again, you put the paper in the folder (small pieces, like 4x4" for some, or the card-size ones, you would use the card) and it embosses that image on the paper (e.g. paisleys, flowder, Happy Birthdays, etc.).
I have both that and the Cricut, and USE them both!!! You can get the Cuttlebug with your 40% off coupon at the Big Stores". It runs about $64.00. I love mine and use it all the time. The dies are between $3.99-6.99 aVERAGE, WITH ALPHABETS THAT ARE ABOUT $70., BUT i USE MY cRICUT FOR ALPHABETS.) (sorry about the capitals...)
    Hope tHat helps!

I LOVE my Cricut...don't think a Sizzix is necessary ...but have been VERY tempted to get a Cuttlebug for embossing.

I would save up for the cricut - it too will be able to cut thicker material soon. They are improving the blades so that it will be able to cut chipboard!! So unless you get the other machine super cheap then I'd hold off!!

With the 40% off coupon that HL has right now, you can get the cuttlebug for around 50 bucks. I wish I had the extra $$ to go grab me one. I'm just trying to hold off until we get my room completely remodeled.

there are many auctions for the cuttlebug going on on ebay right now. if you are interested you may want to check that out.
