Distress Spray Stain

  • Stubbsrhonda
    Hello,
I have a question about Distress Spray Stains.
I have been purchasing the Tim Holts Color packages for the last two years. I just started using the sprays. I am finding out that when I try and seal the paper with Mod Pod it smudges, leaving really bad smudge marks. How can I prevent this? What can I use to seal my paper with the stains?
    Thank you in advance
    Rhonda

Hi Rhonda, All of Tim's Distress stains and inks are water soluble. Meaning they will reactivate when any water based product, like Mod-Podge (glue + Water) is applied over them. As an alternative, you might consider a lacquer based spray to seal your stain. For best results use a matte finish, not a glossy one. Also, please test this out on scraps to make sure you like it before applying it to your project.

Thank you for your reply. I am very disappointed about the sprays. I am new to some of the products, but now I really can't use them for my projects. I will try the embossing powders in its place.
    Again, thank you
    Rhonda

Rhonda, So sorry for the disappointing news. However, it is only necessary for you to seal them if you are applying other "wet mediums" on top of them. Otherwise you should be able to use them.
