As far as them cutting straight, try getting one of those triangular shaped rulers (I think they're actually for drafting) Be sure to get one with straight edges, not beveled. You place the short end of the triangle against the top edge of your cutter and line your paper up with the other straight edge of the triangle. It helps you keep it all straight. It's difficult to see in this photo as the ruler is clear, but if you click on it you can see it. This idea came from Becca on her Amazing Paper Grace blog.
