Versamark does look beautiful on vellum. You can also use versamark with pearl ex. Thats really pretty. They have many colors of versamark now.

I am glad I saw this thread, I thought they were only used with embossing! I am going to have to try the vellum thing!!! Now, I just need to grow my stamp collection as I only have a few!

Here I used the versamark pad for a watermark. I simply stamped the Bazzill with the stamp dipped in the pad... Voila! Pepper says hello!

For those of you who use chalk with the pad, did you know that if you heat set the ink before chalking, the ink repells the chalk so you get a negative.

Also, if your worried about the cost, think of it this way, I've had my versamark pad for about 5 years, and use it quite often, so they really are a good bargin.
Ranger also makes a watermark pad, and it's not QUITE as nice as versamark, but it still works, and it is less expensive (and comes in the small 1 inch pad, as well as the larger pad).

I love my versamark pad too. Although I recently had a weird experience with mine. I made my mom her mother's day card and stamped a floral watermark on the cardstock. In about a week it had faded away. Anyone ever have that happen?

I use mine all the time. In fact, I need a new one because mine is soo dirty and gross. You can use it with Pearl-ex or any other pigment powder as well!

I love my versamark...I'm going to try stamping on Vellum now! Also, there is a versa mark pen that works well too...I've been experiementing with that.

First, before getting rid of those gross pads, get a refill and give that a try. I am alkmost ready to buy my second refill for a pad I've had for over four years.

Two other techniques you can do is a reverse chalking. Using dark cardstock, add chalk then use your versamark and a stamp to remove the chalk from the cardstock--just be sure to clean your stamp each time you stamp.

You can also do a resist technique on glossy paper. Stamp your image with the versamark and let dry a bit. Then use a brayer and roll on dye ink. Your images will not pick up the ink.

I bought a VersaMark ink pad about a month ago, and I've used it once. Apperently my stamp wasn't completely clean, although I check first on paper and nothing showed up, but now I have a brown corner on my pad. Is there a way to clean this? I clean my stamps with baby wipes- maybe that's not enough. Any suggestions????

Joannes has versamark, so you could always use a coupon for it. That is if you can't find anything else to use the coupon on (if that is possible) I have the same pad I bought about 5 years ago and I use it alot. Its still like new.

The versamark also makes for a great stamp cleaner too and will also work to clean the gunk off your scissors if you're in a real pinch. As for cleaning the pad, if it's really bad you can dab it with a clean cloth than reink in that area since the cloth will pick up a lot of the ink. If it's just a bit messy, it shouldn't be any problem. When I sold the pads, I always recommended buying the reinker at the same time--I actually try to do this with all my ink pads. If you have a reinker, the pad will pretty much last forever.

I see that the store here, has a Red and a Blue Versa-Ink pad on Clearance if anyone is interested.

When using the clear one to stamp a background image, like making your own Patterned Paper, do I have to emboss over it? I just used a clear stamp pad by some other brand and the image seems to have faded. I was hoping to stamp over and over again to make my own Patterned Paper.

You shouldn't have to emboss it. I never do. It may fade a bit, but if you're using a well inked pad you should still get a really nice image.

Does anyone know if you can buy pearl ex individualy or does it always have to be in a package? I think I have found it, but want to check.

I saw a neat example of the pearl ex done on black paper, and the stamped image was a butterfly - the wings were amazing!

The image that I stamped is now like completely gone. How do I make my own backgrounds?

That's what happened to me Tiffany! About a week after I did my background, it vanished! I am wondering the same thing. Would using my heat tool on it afterwards "set" the ink?

I use the versamark brand pad and have never had a problem with the images fading. I don't know what happened for you guys. I didn't heat set or anything. I wish I could tell you what went wrong...

As for gunky ink pads...mine is pretty gunky too with GOLD pigment ink! Yuk! However, I've never had a problem using the pad. It looks dirty, but it hasn't seemed to affect the ink itself.

Ok, now about pearl-ex. I know I've seen this stuff before, but for the life of me I can't remember what it does. Isn't it a powder like embossing powder? Do you heat set it too or what? I'm going to a Stampin Up party next week so if it sounds cool I may pick some up. Thanks!

So I just used my ink pad for the first time. It looks great. It's been 24 hours and it hasn't faded. So neat! However, I used a brand new stamp and yet it still left something on my inkpad?

SU sells a stamp cleaning kit...its awesome. I stamp all the time, and after I'm done with a stamp or a particular color I use this, one quick swipe and its clean!!
Also, baby wipes can add a soap to the rubber that will eventually lead to cracking.

Should this ink pad be stored right side up or with the ink facing down?
I get so confused about the proper ways to store ink pads.

I store all of mine face down, but VersaMark ink is so think I don't think it matters as long as it's flat.

Cherene~I have bought pearl ex in individual bottles. They are all bigger jars so several of us split them up. They will last you forever. I love the pearl ex, especially on black paper. Just stamp your image with versamark on dark paper, I use a paint brush or cotton ball to apply the pearl ex. I just take the color from the lid and rub it over the image. When you are done just rub a cotton ball over it to clear the excess pearl ex off. I use this stuff alot. Its awesome

What does pearl ex do exactly? It's just a powder, right?

How do you set the pearl ex? Mine rubs off if I touch it??
