Adhesives - Herma dotto or tabs (or both)

I need to get a new adhesive. I've been using 3M glue tape but am not thrilled. But I have heard great things about herma. I'm trying to decide between the dotto and the tabs. Any recommendations? Are they good for different types of applications? TIA

I really like creative memories tape runners. I've never tried herma cause it is pricey. I use 3m double sided tape too.

I started out with Hermafix, but actually wore out the gotto dispenser! I use the cm too. I also started using the tombo because the refill is so easy to use. no mess, no fuss and works great. I get them at JoAnns with he 40 percent off- good deal!

I use a little of everything. LOL!! I love the herma tabs and repositionable dotto adhesive. The permanant dottos are okay, but I messed up my dispenser cuz the glue gunked up the gears inside..

Herma Dotto Permanent is my all time favorite adhesive!!!! The refills can be a little tricky to put in at first, but once you get the hang of of it, it really isn't that hard to do. I love how easy it is to apply, how well the adhesive sticks and how easily you can cover the smallest little thing with adhesive.

A little tip if your dispenser gets gunked up....Use a little Un-Du to remove the gunk. It works like a charm!!

If I have some dotto in one hand and mini glue dots in the other, I am one happy scrapbooker!!

thanks for the tip.. I just ditched the old one and bought a new one. I figured I had messed it up somehow. (well, I did take it apart totally to clean it.. LOL!_)

I have the herma dots (my first hermafix). I've been looking at JoAnns and Michaels (so I could use a coupon) for the refills, but they haven't had them in stock. I have the repositionable, because I couldn't find the permanent at the time.

I just looked at a catalog I have. It has the Hermafix dispenser, but the Hermafix refill roll has a note; "sorry, discontinued by the manufacturer."

Are the Dotto Dots refills for Hermafix, or something entirely different?

Anyone know anything about that? It would be just my luck when I finally break down and buy one, the refills are no longer available!!

I think what may have happened is that EK Success took over that branch of Hermafix adhesives. (I remember the owner of my LSS mentioning awhile back). EK Success now supplies the refills under the name HERMA DOTTO. (DOes that sound right?)

NOw this was about a year ago. Things could have changed since then, and EK Success may have stopped making them. You could try to email EK Success but good luck getting them to respond. I emailed 4 different times about the same problem, and got the same blanket response to my problem, "a representative will be contacting you soon." WELL I think that he got lost.

I assumed it may be something like that. The Dotto adhesive refills are displayed right next to the Hermafix dispenser at Michaels and it looks like the same thing.

I'm going in to the LSS today. I'll ask and see what they tell me.

I use the CM tape runner and mini glue dots. I also use the CM clear photo splits.

I've been really disappointed in the tombo so I don't even go there....

I just bought some "Herma Dotto Refillable Refill" at my LSS. It shows up on the EK Success web site. On sb.com they have "Hermafix Temporary Glue Refill," which is a different packaging. Either way, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it.

I love the Herma Dotto. It holds very well and I don't seem to have a problem refilling it. Of course, I've only refilled it once so far.

I use both the herma dotto (repositionable) and the herma tabs. I like the tabs for adhering photos to mats and then the dotto for putting the pictures and other embellishments on the page. The repositionable is great because I can easily move stuff around til it's just the way I like it. Over time it becomes permanent and it adheres better than other repositionable adhesives.

I use both the dotto and tabs, but I have a hard time dispensing the tabs. They never seem to be placed in the spot where I want them to be.

Is there a trick to dispensing/placing? Thanks!

with the tabs, I use the little knob on the side to roll the tab to the end of the thingie. THEN I put it where I want it to go.. That was the best I could do.. other than that I say practice.

I've done the wheel...it just seems to take too long. Yep...I guess I need to practice!

i use a little of everything, too: herma tabs, regular tabs in two sizes, tape runners, glue dots...if you want to try the herma but DON'T like the pricey tag, watch Hobby Lobby's ads in the next few weeks...they go on sale every so often, usually at 30% off!

my friends call me the adhesive queen.. sitting in a basket on my sb table is almost 25 different adhesives that I use.. Everytime some new adhesive comes out I have to try it...If it is an adhesive, I probably have use it.
