Using aluminum foil?

I was just reading through old posts & saw this one: http://www.scrapbook.com/forums/showtopic.php?tid/15161...

I've been thinking about trying to use alum. foil on a LO, but didn't think it would work. Wouldn't the foil flatten out in a closed scrapbook? If so, would there be any way to keep it from flatting out?

Just guessing here, but I would think that weight and pressure wouldn't lose the design. If you think about how you crease it and it remains. Only your thumb nail would totally flatten it. I'd use the heavy duty stuff, too. Of course it wouldn't be so deeply impressed as the metal made for embossing. 'Course the proof is in the puddin' so the easiest way to know would be to just try it:)

I think I'll try it & then instead of putting the foil on an actual LO, just incase it does mess it up, I'll just put it inside of a page protector & leave it in a book for a while to see what happens. Using this type of supplies it would be a good and creative idea, but be carefull that this can harm your LO's because they are not ACID FREE.

But I think it's a nice thing to do!

Aluminum foil is acid-free. It's just fine.

Scraperfect~ I thought it was, but wasn't 100% sure, so didn't want to argue!

Are all metal accents acid free? I was under the impression that paper products were mainly the only thing you had to worry about (& glue/adhesive of course). Maybe I should read up on this!

I've done a similar technique using disposable aluminum pans. It's still foil, but a littler heavier.

wow!! Its nice to know that. I wasn't sure about the aliminum foil to be acid free! I was talking about being carefull with supplies that are not acid free.

If you're worried about it flattening after embossing, put some diamond glaze (I think that's what it's called) in the back of it to make it more solid. You could probably do this with any type of glue that will stick to foil. I think I saw this on DIY network scrapbooking, or something like that.

Thanks for that suggestion, Sea! I have some of that at home & will try it if I do the foil thing.
