If you look at the ProvoCraft website, I believe that it's pretty clear that you call it the cricket. Why else would they use the bug as the logo?!?!?!?
I know it's pronounced like the bug but I still say cry-cut because I just think that's the strangest spelling for that pronunciation. I'm weird that way.
lol - the lady that works the sb department at our HL always calls it a "cree cut" I asked her why she pronounced it that way and she said well thats whats its called.. and i said oh I thought it was the "Cricket" since there is a bug on it. She looked at me with a very confused look... and then I felt bad because I think I made her feel stupid
Cree cut could just be the accent of the person if they are in the south. But I call it a criket since I learned better. Sight unseen I said crycut because of the spelling . I love mom's , I want the big one though.
I say Cricut because of the bug but my sil says Crycut.
I used to pronounce Bazzill like it rhymed with Brazil. Then I read that it rhymes with Razzle. Who knew?
Ive always called it like the bug since theres a bug on it... I mean people use to refer to it as their bug. But do know a lot of people who swear up and down its pronounced cry-cut. And the connection to the bug dosnt matter. lol

Are you serious??? I had no idea! I've been saying it like Brazil too.
At Expo recently, I overheard a vendor telling a customer about the "Cull-OOOOOOZE-ul" (her emphasis on "ooze" kept going on and on). I'm pretty sure it's a Cull-UZ-ul (rhymes with puzzle) since it's for cutting the way you'd cut a puzzle.
Manufacturers need to print a pronunciation guide, I guess!
It never occurred to me that it was pronounced like the bug.
I watched an infomercial on the Cricut last night. They kept saying "cricket." I was in M's with my friend, and we were in the die-cutting aisle. I was picking out Cuttlebug stuff and telling my friend I wanted to invest in a Cricut at tax-return time. This rather large, rather RUDE woman stalked past us, and snapped, "It's pronounced CRY-cut!" Um. NO! It's NOT! They why is there a cute little cricket on the package??? Hmmmmmm??????

I watched a little video online at the CK website months ago. Lisa Bearnson was discussing her favorite things, and the Coluzzle was one of them. And she, too, called it "Cull-oozle." I would think Lisa Bearnson would know?

I thought the cute little bug was ProvoCraft's logo? My Cuttlebug has the little bug on it. My Zision trimmer doesn't, though.
Thanks for clearing this up; I wasn't sure, either. But I love my Cricut Expression!!!!
I just want the regular one, I don't really have a need to cut 12x12. I could see where that would come in handy for a teacher, but for me, who's only been diecutting for a year, I don't need it.
I say Cricut because of the bug but my sil says Crycut.

I also said something different, till I saw the bug, now I call it CRICKET (like the bug)

same here!
I used to say Bazzill the same way, like Brazil. Then I learned the right way to say it. Mentioned to my friend using Bazzill cs in this color or that, and she's like, "WHAT?"

Manufacturers need to learn to spell!!!
The word 'Cricut' should be pronounced Cry-cut, which is how I first pronounced it.
Now, I understand it's intended as a cute way of spelling cricket, although it would make more sense as "cric-kut" or "crik-cut".
Depending on what part of the country you're from, "creek-cut" could be pronounced cricket. LOL
It never occurred to me that it could be said with a Long I sound. I've never heard it said that way anywhere either. Maybe because of the cricket that is its "mascot".

Hahaha - I for some reason every time I look at the word - I think it is pronounced Bay zill LOL

That's what I thought to, until I bought the Happily Ever After cart and I decided I wanted the Expressions. Boy did I make the right decision.
When I first read about these I pronounced it Cry-Cut... until I was trying to learn more about them on the website, and I watched the video and they pronounced it cricut (like the bug)!!
