Scrapping Postcards

Does anyone have good suggestions for scrapping postcards? When DS was in Europe for a summer, he sent home over 25 postcards.

I would like to find a way to create an album or put them in a scrapbook that would display both sides of the postcard.

I've thought of punching holes and creating a mini-book, but then I would be punching holes through his writing and the pictures.

I could use some good ideas!

you can use thick tape that they use to protect books -wide enough to cover the whole post card back and his writing- and make it flap with some extra tape off the side. I think this would be cute in a mini book with photos that he took himself took or ones that include him.

if that doesnt make sense I can post pics of the idea...

Maybe find some 4x6 or 5x7 page protectors (or make your own) and slide them in there. Then you could bind however without punching a single one Good luck with your project!!

Laminate the post cards so it doesn't get damage. If you can use one of your cutting machines, try different frame shapes. This way you have both front and back view of the post cards. When cutting the frames try cutting one side bigger then the other so you can build you album without having to even punch any holes in the cards or the frame work and take it from there.

I never try'd this but the idea just popped in my head. I think I'll try it out today and see what I get out of it. Least the frame work.

Nouel beat me to it. I was also going to say laminate them and the punch holes in the overhang, make chipboard covers decorated with various stamps/punches of place he visited.

Laminating might be an option. I would go to an office max of kinkos to get it done..This can get pricey, but postcards are small..so it wouldn't cost you like what I've had to laminate for school visuals.

my first thought was post card sleeves. When I've put postcards in my scrapbooks, I've attached the clear file onto the page using mounting tape something as such..then slid the postcard in. This might not work for you since you want to be able to see both sides of the postcard.

I like the frame idea! That's cool- make it like a slide mount just bigger and do a frame on the front and back to enclose it. Punch the frame. Can't wait to see it.

If you do go to kinkos make sure you have it done by someone that knows what they are doing... Had a project ruined becuase the guy didn't wait for the machine to heat and told to use an iron over the parts that did not laminate. It turned out lumpy and uneven. just an fyi

I have seen a really cool layout where the person stitched them on like a pocket and then put things in them. It looked really nice.

I'd probably scan them and print copies of both the front and back (I might resize them, too) and use the prints the same way I use photos on a 'regular' LO. This way I'd have no qualms about using glue on them.

Laminating is a pretty cool idea, too.

I would scan them and use the picture in your scrapbook. That way the book won't be bulky and you will still have the great pictures. I have done this when we took family trips - bought one postcard of a specific thing and copied it for all our scrapbooks. Works great!

I just went on a trip and collected a lot of postcards. Luckily mine are all 4x6 so I'm slipping them in these (see below) and adding those to my scrapbooks. I'm going to only use one side of the pockets so you can flip the page and read the back without taking them out.
