Deep Cut Blade

I recently acquired a deep-cut blade for my Cricut. I was wondering if there was some way to "tell" my Cricut I have the deep-cut blade installed. Or maybe there are some settings I'm not aware of? I was trying to cut 1.5mm chipboard, which is what the deep-cut blade is supposed to cut, on Cricut's recommended settings. But the blade kept making a funny, grinding noise and wouldn't multicut in the same spot. I was using a brand-new mat and brand-new deep-cut blade, and I'm confused. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I ended up using cereal-box-thin chipboard, which my regular blade can cut. I only had to multicut 3x with the deep cut blade as opposed to 4x with the regular blade. I probably could've gotten away with only 2x, but I wonder if maybe my husband wasted his money buying me the deep-cut blade. He thought I'd like it, and was being sweet to buy it.

Even if you don't end up using it for chip board, I think it does better for intricate cutting.
I spose the deep cut blades would do in the reg housing, but I think the deep cut blades and housing together make the best cut for intricate cutting. I could be wrong, but this is how I justify buying the piece!! I did use a 40% coupon on mine at J's- so it wasn't too bad.

I do use mine for chipboard all the time it cuts alot better. The chipboard I have is thicker than a cereal box. If you have to thick of a chipboard it will make that grinding noise. I tried to cut my same chipboard with my regular blade yesterday and even after 9 multi cuts it wouldn't cut through all the way. I think as you use it more and more you will see the differance.

I didn't buy it, my husband did. He knows how many chipboard word albums I make for gifts, and thought that it would make it easier for me. He was really being sweet to buy it.

Okay, so the grinding noise then isn't something that should alarm me. Okay, you mentioned 9 multicuts...how do you do more than 4 multicuts? I'm using Design Studio (can't seem to cut without it ) and I only have the option of up to four multicuts. I found that if I try to multicut 4x, and then try to multicut another time or three, it doesn't cut in the same spot, if that makes any sense.

If your machine makes the grinding noise you do need to stop and get another chipboard. It can cut chipboard thicker than a cereal box though.

I have a gypsy which allows for more multi cuts. I have not used design studio in years so Im not sure if you can manually change the number on that.
I think with design studio if you do not remove the mat from the machine and then recut it will cut in the same place. once you remove the mat it never cuts the same.
