poem/quote HELP

I am in a swap where I need to do a poem or quote about childhood friends. I haven't really liked any of the ones that I have found so far. I was hoping someone has something great I can use. If not, it looks like I may have to ask my mom to let me look through the book of poetry she wrote, and that can be like pulling teeth! Thanks in advance!

Friends Are Like Angels

Our friends are like angels,
Who brighten our days.
In all kinds of wonderful,
Magical ways.

Their thoughtfulness comes,
As a gift from above.
And we feel we're surrounded,
By warm, caring love.

Like upside-down rainbows,
Their smiles bring the sun.
And they fill ho-hum moments,
With laughter and fun.

Friends are like angels,
Without any wings.
Blessing our lives,
With the most precious things.

True friendship's like an old oak tree
When bending to the blast;
It sinks it's roots in safety
And holds on to the past.
That's how it is with old time friends,
We'll never let them go;
Until our earthly troubles end,
Because we love them so.

Whenever I wrap myself in a quilt
I think of a special friend,
One who thought to pick up the scraps
Of my dreams that had crashed in the end.
A friend who thought nothing of taking the time~~
though I knew how much time it would take~~
To rummage through haystacks for needles I'd lost
And thread them again for love's sake.
Quilts are like friends, for the older they get,
You realize they're worth more than gold.
And I'll sell all I have but I'll keep friends and quilts~~
All I'll need to keep warm when I'm old!

Friends

There are many times
we look back,
and that friend of ours
has gotten off track.

There are many times
we l ook ahead,
and we have for that friend,
a piece of bread.

We look at the days
the skies were sunny,
and the jokes that we told
were actually funny

We look at the days
the skies were gray,
and we really didn't have
much to say.

When troubles came
you were there by my side
Drying the tears
that I couldn't hide

When good times came
we shared them together
We've got a friendship
Noone could sever.

Friends are very special
and as precious as can be
That's why I'm glad
You're a friend to me.

That is a beautiful poem. Thank you for sharing it with me. I don't think I will use it for my swap, but if you don't mind, I would love to use it on a card I am making for a friend who is going through tough times.
