Where is Un-do?

For several months I've kept a casual eye out for Undo adhesive remover as my stash is getting low. Then it became an outright search and now I find the website is gone, no one seems to carry it and I'm puzzled. What happened to it>

It doesn't meet California safety toxicity codes or something, so they've pulled production. Check your local LSS, I saw some at one of mine the other day.

Yes, it has been discontinued. Their home office is here in Dallas & I tried calling a local number but get no answer?

I think the spelling is Un-du, you might try a search again.

I got some at walmart the other day on clearance I was so excited as it has been taken away. I love the product so I wanted to stock up. Check and buy what you can get before it's gone.

I would check discount stores.
I saw some recently at Bi-Mart (a discount store in our area).

It may help if we knew where you are from? US? What state?

Wasn't that made by the makers of Goo-Gone? I saw sticker remover made by Goo-Gone at Menards the other day, but wasn't sure if it was ok for scrapbooking and didn't have time to stop and read the label. I too have had my eye out for Un-do. Guess we better be sure when we put our stickers down!

I know the company sold the rights to it or went out of business or something. Last I heard the makers were trying to decide whether to attempt to meet California standards (Heptane is the problem) or give up the product altogether. Love me some Undu!!

Thanks so much for all the input. I'll stop looking for it. Does anyone have any experience using lighter fluid instead. It is essentially the same stuff but I haven't ever tried it on photos or scrapbook pages.

amazon had "goo gone sticker lifter" or "magic american sticker lifter" come up when I clicked on the undu picture, not sure if that's the same you were looking for.

Don't try the goo gone lifter. I did. The results are not, not, pretty. Go gone lifter is very oily.

We'll have Un-Du up for email notification again by the end of the day. Sign up for it. I've been on the hunt and am determined to get it in again!

yup, what everyone else said....you may get lucky and find it in a store that hasn't pulled it yet. (that's what i did)

Since Bestine is Heptane, many are using that instead.

Bestine (comes in a can near the paint thinner, etc) can be found at art supply stores, HL, etc, and in some places, hardware stores.

Quite a while back I called the company and got the lowdown. Yes, it's been discontinued (permanently or temporarily if they can reconfigure the chemicals).

If you what to read about it and what else you can use, here's the original thread (scroll to page 2 for the final details). I have found that if you use rubber cement thinner (heptane) it works really well.

I hope they get some, or something like it. I had stocked up this summer, but my bottles must not have had the lids on tight!! They've evaporated!! When I went to check my stash, I almost cried.

What exactly does it do?

I saw a couple bottles at ACM's and I feel like I should pick some up but I'm not sure what to use it for.

You know... I ahve never used this-- or even thought I had a need for it until it was pulled from production.... since then I have been dying for it and can't find it either.

First, what is an ACM? Un-du is a liquid you can squirt on anything you've stuck to a scrapbook page and lift of off to reposition or remove. It makes the glue unsticky until it dries and then returns to full stickiness. I am so anal about the positioning of my pictures and embellishments that if I get it on a page and see that it's a fraction off center, out comes the UnDu and up comes the crooked piece. Unfortunately, they have pulled it or sold out at the only stores available to me (Walmart, Hobby Lobby, and Michaels)

ACM = A.C. Moore's similar to Michael's but smaller at least here.

Anyone know if the "regular" Un-Do is safe for scrapbook pages. The ingredients look the same as the scrappers solution packaging, but the regular packaging doesn't say acid free.

Do you know if it's the same stuff, just packaged differently. I managed to find a few bottles of the "regular" stuff and was hoping it was safe to use on my pages.

Okay, I just bought some today. This post made my think I better get it while I still can!

Here's what I can tell you:

My old bottle shows it's made by Un-du Products, Inc. in Dallas, TX. (Which someone above says is out of business.)
The old bottle is called, "Un-du Adhesive remover. The scrapper's solution."

The bottle I bought today says it's made by Big Time Products, LLC in Rome, Georgia (www . bigtimeproducts . net) [I went to the website, but couldn't view it because I didn't have the necessary plug-in.]

The "new" bottle says "Scrapper's Solution by un-du." It also says "photo safe, acid free."

Both bottles have the same patent #, so I ASSUME it's the same product/formula/ingredien ts, but I don't know.

As far as I can tell, the company isn't out of business. In August, they had told me they had to stop production of that product unless they could reformulate it.

After posting the original question, I too have found the "new" Un-du in the art supply section at Michaels. It wasn't there Saturday. It appears the same but I haven't had a chance to sample it. Anyway, it might be available again but we'll have to see if it's as good.
