I curently am working with two 12 X 12 strap hinge albulms. Although I like the look of the pages better than the other types, I don't like being forced to scrap in order. My question is, can I scrap to 12 X 12 card stock and then adhere them to strap hinge pages later? Would the pages support the extra weight? Anyone have any suggestions? You could do that, but make sure you cut your paper first. I work with CM albums, and the page is not true 12x12 because of the jeeping.
Another way you could do this is by using strap-hinge portrait sleeves. This lets you scrap out of order and still use your strap-hinge album. Of course, the down side is that you won't be using those 10 pages they give you with your album. But it would be easy to trade/swap those with someone else!

I don't understand why you feel you have to scrapbook in order? I don't. I use nothing but straphinge books. Are your books bookcase bound?

It's probably NOT a good idea to wallpaper every page, only because you won't get as many pages in your album as you might otherwise. The strain on the album is definitely noteworthy and can pull the staples out of your page.
I do a lot of double matting/wallpapering and I'm lucky to get 30 pages in my CM album. I'm OK with that, but I'm definitely doing the Portrait Sleeve thing more....

Thanks for your replies. The strap hinge page protectors sound like just the thing for me. Where can I get them? Does CM carry them? I haven't seen them at the local Hobby Lobby.
I guess the decision to scrap in order is just something I "feel" I should do. I just find it hard to imagine not putting my kids baby pictures before their kindergarten graduation.

CM sells portrait sleeves, and Westrim also has some. You can find Westrim at WalMart, Michael's etc.
As for scrapping in order, I do, but occasionally I am really psyched to do a layout, but if I waited until it came to that part of the book, it would be several months down the road! The nice thing about top-loading, is that you can rearrange them if you want to, or leave a page blank and insert them later.

i did my first 2 albums on strap hinged albums-hardly any of them were done on the actual page. i did them on patterned paper or solid cardstock and just put sticky tabs on the back and attached them. i haven't noticed any extra weight on the album-it's a Westrim-and i even added extra pages. i decided though for the money i spent on the strap hinged and then having to also buy the protectors, it is cheaper to just buy the 3 ringed binders and protectors and just slide them in top load style. this way i can use decorative albums-i've even used walmart Pooh photo albums that come with the sticky pages and just thrown them away. i did buy a 12 x 12 top loading album from Dalee though and i love it! this way i can move my pages around. but i don't scrap in order either-i just group pictures on a page by the category.

I too purchased a couple of CM books and have not have problems with my pages being bulky, but I can see that since I do mount my pages on cardstock and not work the way CM demos you to that having the bulk of that extra white page there can be cumbersome. My only concern with their albums truly is too, working in order. CTMH albums were the best I have found as they are true 12 x 12 but if you are worried about price, at least get a top loading book...easier to work with! Plus, you can purchase extender posts to make your album hold more. Right now as I'm finishing up my last CM album I'm using their sleeve protectors to just hold my pages in place...frusterating, but it works temporarily. Hey, if anything I guess it makes me work faster!
