Again, I am in the dark. Please tell me that Prang is a brand of pencil and not a new kind of one. I really need to get out more...

Ya know Nikki? I would like to know too! I've seen these at Costco and always want to pick them up. But it's been beaten into my head that if it doesnt' say acid free on the box, then it's not. PHOOEY. If you find out let me know!
And yes Jen, it's a brand of pencil, not a new kind! LOL So don't worry my friend, you're not behind the times on that one *wink*

I didn't realize they didn't say acid free on the box, but bought them sometime ago at costco, it was such a great deal, I couldn't pass them up. I use them all the time.
I took a lettering class a while ago and it was suggested that Prismacolor were the best (and most expensive) and that they are so creamy, etc. I tried them and really didn't find much difference between one or the other. I am sure to use my blending pencil to make sure it all looks smooth.
Go for it, the bunch brom Costco gives you lots of color choice. Never have wished I had the right color....I do.

Go for it Nikki...you to Michelle! I got these at Costco and I love them. I don't know if they are acid free and the website doesn't say either. If you're that worried about it, you could spray it with Archival Mist but I don't know if it would work on the color. I also have a 50 ct. box of Crayola pencils (have you figured out I'm too cheap to buy the Prismas...LOL!) Anywho, with those two sets, I'm sitting pretty! The shades are different from each other so if the both pencils say "Navy Blue" on them I've really got two different shades of it. It's great.

i would say that i bet they would be ok to use. i know that the prang crayons are made with a soybean wax and i think that the color penciles are made along the same lines so i'm thinking if they are made that way that they would be ok to use with your scrapbooking. you could always email the co. that makes them and ask if they know if they are safe or what they are made from. you can find them at http://www.prang.com
