What the heck's a pom-pom??!!

After reading so much about chalk and seeing so many neat layouts, I finally bought a set - and I love it! Then I saw a thread about using pom poms with the chalk.
So hence my question... What the heck is a pom-pom and where do I buy 'em?!

Pom poms are those little (well, actually they vary in size) cotton ball looking things that we used to use in art class as children - remember? Like the red ones to glue on Rudolph as a nose? Do you remember the ankle socks that we used to wear, with the little soft balls on the back? Those are also pom poms. You can buy a box of them at Michaels, or any other craft store, and they are actually called pompoms. You can probably also buy them here, in the scrapbook.com store. HTH!

You will need something to hold the pom pom with. You can either go to the hardware store and for about fifty cents get an alligator clip, or you can by one in a LSS attached to a cute little pink stick handle for probably four dollars! The nicest thing I have found with using pom poms is that they can be left right in their coresponding color of chalk, and the lid of the chalk palette will close down on top nice and tight for the next time you use them.

I just bought my clip last night at Micheal's in the stenciling aisle for $3 - should have read this first, I knew those things looked familiar and it's because my DH uses alligator clips for his electronics all the time.
