I am desperately looking for a nice (not apple crates) furniture cabinet to store all my scrapbook stuff (quite a lot). Any ideas or suggestions? I've looked at some dinning room hutches and entertainment centers but havent found anything nice yet for a reasonable price ($200-$500 max). Thanks for any help!
You could try a furniture outlet store, they usually have nice cheap things. Or Target has a whole bunch of furniture in the housewares section, they have cabinets, shelves, etc. Most of Target's stuff is under $200.
I have been looking for storage racks too, expecially for different sized paper. I found exactly what I wanted at http://www.novelcrafts.com It is a self-standing paper rack with 15 shelves for 8-1/2 x 11 paper and 15 shelves for 12 x 12 paper. It costs $115.00 (Item No. FSH15+15). They also have smaller and larger racks for every need. Hope you find something there.
Sue, for the novel paper racks may I suggest you make a cover so light and dust don't find your stash. I think if you can invision a giant blender or toaster cover in your mind that is what I am thinking of. If you want me to walk you through this or have another cover idea, please share. Nancy
You mean you actually have dust in your house, Nancy? Just kidding. Excellent idea to include a dust cover...especially in MY house. My motto is scrapbook first, cleaning is at the bottom of the list. Have you tried these racks?
Hi. I bought an entertainment center/armoire from, I'm almost embarrassed to say it, Odd Lots/Big Lots. I think it was under $200. My dh added support to the bottom of the drawers (there are two of the at the bottom). I've kept my CM receipts, bags, credit card info/forms, previous receipts, negatives, and left over pictures that didn't go anywhere. The top of the cabinet has doors that close, so I can cram it chock-full and no one has to see it! I now keep all my mags in it and I have 8 scrapbooks in it. Almost all my supplies except my rubber stamps and punches fit in it. I bought the cherry finished one and placed it just a couple feet away from my really, really nice buffet that I did NOT get from Big Lots, and you can't tell the difference till you open them up and compare them! I've heard other people keep their supplies on a kind of cart with wheels, too. I just can't think that something on wheels would look good in my dining room. LOL Jill
How about checking out cabinets made for drafting. They would have a lot of shallow drawers so you wouldn't have to shuffle through a lot of items. Don't forget to label the drawers with what's inside so you don't have to go searching through all of them!
If you have a Container Store near you-they have really nice peices that you can add on to as you go. This weekend I was looking at a peice that is like a shelf with a table coming out from it (does that make sense). It was around $400 and you can add as you go. Their website is http://www.thecontainerstore.com They also have tons of other cool containers-I bought a little case to put eyelets in and now I can keep each color in a seperate compartment along with the tools.
I just bought from Kmart an arimoire (boy I butchered the spelling there, lol) fr 90 bucks, it's pressboard, but not too bad and you can't beat the price. It has 2 big drawers and shelves on the inside and I was able to put agreat deal of my stuff inside. I have some of those stacking drawers (plastic- about 10 bucks for the set of 3) that also fit inside nicely. It may not be as fancy sa some things, but it keeps all my stuff tucked away in drawers and behind the doors.
