Hot Glue Guns

I'm curious to know what others think, who else leaves their glue gun on all day when crafting? I've been doing this for quite some time since I retired.

I try not to because I have left mine on overnight...just don't like the idea of that!!!

Truthfully, I haven't used mine for years--maybe because I focus on lo's?

I use a glue gun often; it's turned off between projects. Not a good idea to leave on all day.

Quakes at the thought. Never leave heated elements on when unattended. Fire hazard big time. I do stained glass and have my soldering iron set on a circuit that when I turn off the lights, it turns of my iron.

If I was using the glue gun regularly throughout the day, every day then I might leave it on but I very seldom use it anymore now that I have been using gel medium to adhere those heavy bulky items to a page. Don't do many crafts that require a glue gun anymore.

I don't leave my glue gun on either. Fire Hazard!

I just turn mine off and on as needed. It is a pain to wait for it to heat up sometimes but i don't feel comfortable leaving it on. I just find something else to do while i wait for it.

Never. It's on as long as I'm using it, then I turn it straight off. It doesn't take that long to heat up if I realise I need it again.

Unless you're actually using it all day, leaving it on is not only a fire hazard but a wicked waste of electricity, in my opinion.

I'm curious why you would ask the question though?

just curious? Are you guys using your heat guns in your sb's? Never thought to do that!

Always, always, always turn mine off! The fire hazard aspect of it mostly, but also the smell of the glue is strong to me and I can't stand the thought of smelling that for hours.

I have done - I managed to find some acid-free glue sticks. I haven't used it on my scrapbooks since I got my ATG.

yes i have used my glue gun on scrapbook pages. I use it for embellishments never on paper or pictures. I mainly use it on off the page stuff or on ribbon for cards.

I use mine on my pages all the time. It holds chipboard and other heavier stuff like nobody's business. I also use it for flower clusters bc I am to impatient to let wet glue dry. If I'm being a little lazy, I will glue a mat or 2 down:)

I had no idea! I am going to bust mine out. I hear yah on the flowers. I usually use glue dots but hot glue sounds more secure. Same with ribbon and fabric. Thanks for the tip
