Souffle versus Glaze gelly Roll

I have a couple of Glaze gelly roll pens and suddenly I find myself using them constantly. So, I thought I would buy a whole set. But, then I was intrigued by the souffle which I've never used, but have heard people rave about in the past. I plan to use them for simple doodling and some journaling.

For those of you who have used both, which do you prefer?

I am tempted to try the puffy pens

I recently bought both.
Glaze pens are shinny & translucent (except the black which is opaque). They add an emboss shine to everything. Black is FABULOUS for journaling (looks just like embossing). Yellow is great on top of gold (adds more dimension).

Souffle is like puffy paint and is opaque. The more applications the more the puff (but it's not crazy high puff it's just a little raised).

If I had to choose I would chose the shiny Glaze pens over the Souffle. BUT they are addictive and you will want every color.

You know the expensive sheets of pattern papers that have all of the nice shiny embossing? You can now add that effect yourself with a couple Glaze pens.

I don't have the glaze but I got the souffle pens years ago and I love them. They are really really opaque and show up really well on dark paper and I also love how they are puffy - they just a little bit of dimension to the page. They roll just beautifully and the ink comes out smoothly. It does take just a little practice to get the feel for them, but all pens like these do need that. I say go for it!!!

I actually like the souffle pens better than the glaze pens. They're great on dark paper, and I like the effect in general.

I saw this title and thought you were talking about food/desserts!

I really like the Souffle pens myself. Although, many people are disappointed because they buy them thinking they will be puffy like puff paint - and they're not.
The ink is raised a tiny bit, but it's not REALLY puffy as we think of puffy. It looks amazing on dark paper/chipboard

Ack! Don't make me want ALL of these!

I have both the Souffle and the Glaze and like them both!

I have a couple of both and I have to say, I'm not impressed with the Souffle pens. I find that if I color in a circle or any area really, no matter the size, I find that the pen bleeds out a little.
But the glaze and souffle give such different different looks, I say try one pen and see if you love it. But then again, I feel that way for everything!

The Souffle and the Glaze pens are very similar in how they work. They both add a touch of dimension. The Souffle are more opaque or 'cloudy' in appearance while the Glaze ones are very shiny.

All of the detail on this layout is hand doodled with the glaze pen. In the bottom left corner, you can see the shine that they give. Yes, these make a wider line than a regular gel pen. Also, I used the glaze pens to make the black and white frame. I love the glaze pens for this type of work because you can kind of 'flood' the filled in portions with them.

On this one I did all the doodling with the Souffle Pens. If you notice on the 'waves' the doodling is more of an opaque or 'cloudy' look. The souffle works on the dark paper perfectly. With the glaze you won't have the same look on the dark paper. It will truly appear as a glaze, not a distinct line when you use them.

As you see, the opaque colors of the Souffle are more muted and work beautifully on white paper or darkly colored paper. The Glaze pen colors give you a more vibrant color but need to be used on white or very light colored paper.

You are very welcome! I love those pens and use them quite often, but not like I did for my son's sea base layouts! I still haven't finished it either! lol
