Cricut Expression

So about 6 months to a year ago I picked up a cricut expression at Menards for pretty cheap. I left it in the box and recently dragged it out.

I cannot use it connected to the computer. I have followed all the instructions, even downloaded: cricut design studio, cricut deisgn space, cricut craft room. None work.

It tells me that I do not have a machine connected to the computer.

I can cut with just a cartridge. Anyone have any ideas???

Yes, you can just cut with your cartridges. You only need the software if you planned on welding or manipulating the images.

Thanks, It is cutting with the cartridges but I am unable to cut with the computer at all. The box came with a 50.00 credit for digital images and I bought some but cannot use them.

I was wondering if someone could help as to why I cannot get it to cut from the computer

I would call Cricut support, the number is on their website. You may not have the proper cables to connect the computer to the machine.

I agree, call support. There used to be a "sync" through the gypsy or something (I don't remember) that made the Cricut work with the computer.

I have an expressions 2 that I have used with the CCR for two years. I upgraded to Windows 10 and can't get it to cut. I also did the compatibility mode to windows 7, no go.

I am beyond frustrated. So I will be purchasing a different cutting machine at some point and it won't be a Cricut.

I emailed cricut and this is what they sent me I haven't had a chance to try it yet as I have been working, will try it out tomorrow and let you know

Please follow the below troubleshooting steps to fix the issue.



-Update the firmwa re of the machine by following the steps from the below link.

-Perform Hard Rest on the machine:

1- Turn the machine on with NO cartridge loaded

2- Roll all of the gray dials down to their lowest setting

3- Grasp the blade assembly and use it to pull the entire carriage car along its track to the far left of the machine

4- Back where the carriage car usually sits there is a red button. Press that button and hold it down for about three seconds

5- Move the gray carriage car back into place

6- Roll all of the gray dials all the way up and all the way down three times—three times for each dial

7- Press the Cut button, then turn the machine off

8- Set the Speed, Pressure and Size for the type of paper

9- Load a cartridge, turn the machine on, select a simple image and attempt a practice cut.

I did all of that and well, I can cut with CCR and my Expression 2 in Windows 10. I removed Design studio and reloaded it, walking through the steps that were provided to update the firmware so I guess I did something right.

I'm still going to invest in a different machine though.

The Cricut Expression does NOT work with Design Space. Only the new Cricut Explore can do that. For the older machines, you can only use the Cricut Craft Room.
