Organization

Tell me ladies, what is the one organizational piece that you used to help you get organized. I have notice a lot of people are using the sterlite drawers and the wire cubies. For Mother's Day my MIL has offered to buy my tools/equipment that I need to get my things off the table. I have looked at some of your sb rooms here, but I want to know what that one tool/equipment that if it was taken away, you would probably fall apart as an organized scrapper. TIA

Oh dear...only one item? That is a tough one.
I would have to say........................... ummm..... my..oh dang it all.
I can't decide. lol

It is a throw up between my wire cubes, and my 3 drawer mini sterlite containers.

Probably my sterlite containers, as that is how I organize my 8.5 x 11 paper and my scraps. (I haven't bought the 12x12 sterlite containers yet, but I probably will this weekend). I store most of my stuff in my desk though, so I probably couldn't make it without it either!

The target cubes are a BIG help for me! The sterelite containers are good, too, but if I had to I could make do w/out them. I've also found some great divided containers at Dollar Tree and we also have a King Dollar. They work great for my brads and eyelets and flowers, etc.

I bought the Cropper Hopper vertical paper storage. I got them on sale at AC Moore and they really helped organize my paper. I use the plastic three drawer organizers to organize most other things, I have them in several different sizes.

I would also have to say the vertical paper storage. They are pretty inexpensive ($5) each and really helped me get organized. Now I wonder what I did before I found them.

I have a regular paper rack that I bought from a LSS that was closing out. I use that for all my pp and the I use the Cropper Hopper organizers for my cs.
We have a big kitchen and dinning room combined so I took over a corner of it and my dh bought me an island that matches our table. It works great for me it has drawers and cupboards so everything is at my fingertips.

ok...there truly is no one step...but when I started organizing my space, I would say that organizing your pp would be the first of things that would help so whatever method you choose you need to start with the most commonly used thing and for most of us it is pp....I orginally started using the wire cubes but then I outgrew them, actually they really never worked for me, but I wasn't going to spend a lot of organization...they were the most affordable, so my suggestion is get the item that works the best because in the long run, you don't want something that you will have to replace in the future....but now I use both the vertical storage and wire cubes...that works for me...

What about your eyelets and brads? That is what I use the most of. I have seen people with those watch tins, but I am not sure where to find those at. I tried the baby food jar thing, but that was too deep. Thanks for the help ladies.

I bought the hobby boxes at Hobby lobby, #1.99 and they have about 15 sections or so to separate. Then I found the others I mentioned at Dollar Tree, near the sewing supplies and the King Dollar.

for eyelets & brads i bought a metal tin at michaels for $4. it has 12 little circular containers that can come out. It great for sorting eyelets or brads by color!

For eyelets and brads I bought a bead box from walmart it has 24 tic tac boxes. They cost $4.44 and I love it because they come in a clear case.

*Watchmaker Tins for small embellies (although I am outgrowing them...I'll most likely go with the CH storage next)
*Generations Vinyl Page Keeper thingys-I store all my 12x12 pp collections by brand, then line (like Basic Grey, Lollipop Shoppe, etc) in individual envelopes
*Target Wire Cubes/Shelves-I store all of my loose pp by color here.
*12x12 Sterilite Drawers-I got three sets to keep scraps.
*Sterilite Ultra Drawers for all other embellishments

The watch tins are the best way I have found for storing all of my eyelets and brads. I found mine online. If you need a website, PM me.
I also just couldn't do with out my $5 toolbox that I bought at Walmart. I keep all of my basic tools in there and it has a lift-out tray so bigger tools can go in the bottom and smalller ones in the tray. The lid has compartmetns in it too so I can store my extra post extenders, refill blades for my paper cutter and Coluzzle knife. I use alot of Sterlite boxes and drawers too.

I have the Sterlite 12x12 for my pp and a vertical tote for my cardstock. I have a little Craft Mate that I bought at ACMoore with my 40% coupon that has 6 trays inside to store my eyelets, brads, beads, safety pins, buttons, etc. and they are all in one place. Each tray has 14 compartments, so I can store lots of things by color. Sometimes I outgrow a compartment and I have little sterilite containers (like Tupperware) with the plastic lids that I store my excess in and they stack in a wicker basket that sits on my table. So far, it has worked for me.

Sterlite Sterlite Sterlite! I've got LOTS of 8.5x11 size, and store everything in them. I just bought 4 of the 12x12 yesterday.

Thanks ladies. I have purchased several Sterlite containers. At a crop last night I found someone that was wanting to sell her watch tins. So, I am all over that! I am so excited. I just MIGHT be able to find things in a more timely manner now.
