For those of you who have the problem with the digital sizes converting to 4x6 size...try snapfish. They offer 4x5.3 (digital size)...$0.12/print (same as 4x6 prices there). The quality is top notch and then heads aren't cut off! (I'm sure other online sites offer this too...this is my favorite online photo site out of the few I've tried though.) FAST shipping too.

Appleprints shows you how much is going to get cut off after you pick what size print you want, so you can adjust it so it cuts off the bottom instead of the top, or half and half or whatever, which is nice. Their quality is nice too, but shipping is more expensive and I recently had all my online folders of pictures "corrupted". Thank goodness I'd already ordered the ones I uploaded, but I'm irratated at that site right now.

Our Wal-Mart's film developing stinks. I've never had trouble with the digital printing, but I'm pretty much an online convert now except for fast orders.

You know, the worst pics I've ever had printed was at a Kodak picture maker. I don't know what that was about, but I was sooo disgusted!

I just recently tried WalMart's digital service, and will never use it again.

Somewhat long story, but I initially ordered it with the 2-3 day service option, after they charged my card they said it would take 7 days. So I called the customer service number, cancelled that order and re-submitted it with the one hour option. Four hours later I went into the store, and the pictures aren't done. I waited another hour before they were done, and they looked terrible, the yellow printed almost half an inch below everything else. They said they couldn't refund them because it was in internet sale. So I had them redo them. Two days later they call and say they're ready. So I go to pick them up, same problem. Said again that they cannot issue refund, I'd have to call customer service. Called them, they said refund would have to be issued at store. Went back to store, got the run around again. Finally gave up.

Then I see the charge from the original order that I had cancelled. Called customer service, they again said refund would have to be issued at the store. Went in to get these pictures, which actually turned out great, but again was told by manager they cannot issue refund.

I may join Costco just to get their photo developing. Do they use Fuji?

I love their online developing. I took my daughter's Senior Pics with my digital and was worried they might not develop them because my camera prints at such a high pixel rate............they did and the photos came out great.

Let me put it this way...........7 different poses and over 150 prints only cost me $85.53.........my friend a professional asked me where we had her portraits taken and I said I did it myself and had Walmart develop them.

Did you download their photo editor? I used it to "Fix" the red eye in one of my pics and then changed the photo to black and white......it came out great.

I was very happy with them.

I used Walmart FOREVER...and was fine with them. Then I tried Winkflash.com cuz they were having a free print deal...and I can't BELIEVE the difference in the quality!! Almost makes me wanna go back and reprint all my walmart stuff!

Plus...there are so many other options with winflash, matte, glossy, white border, no white border. And the pics are only 12cent a piece! Bigger sizes are WAY cheaper too...I think an 8x10 is 1.99...can't beat that with a stick

And....they ship SUPER fast...

....I think I should be on thier payroll...lol

Funny you should bring up WalMart. I have tried the WalMart processing in every state that I have lived in since I moved back from Germany in 1999 -- umm, that would be 4 states -- Florida, Delaware, Oklahoma and Texas. Every Walmart, in every single state -- EVERY SINGLE ONE did a bad job with photo processing. Or maybe it was MY pictures. Other people told me they were fine. They were not fine. I like Costco and I've been happy with a number of online services. But Walmart and my photos just don't get along.

I use either Sams or Walmart. Our Walmart had started using a crappy paper and I didn't like that but now they've gone back to the good kind. I think it really depends on the manager how good they do. I tried to use the online service and they didn't get my order for whatever reason. I'll try again tomorrow. I got some photos from the old Ophoto online service and the color is gorgeous but I don't like the paper they printed on at all. So I don't think I'll use that again.

My Walmart in MTL is good! Never had a problem, and all my pics look awesome! I like that I can order them online and pay for them at pick up at the store... that way if I don't like them, I just don't buy them!

My WM does okay. I think a lot depends on the people working there.

As for cropping, if I want a size other than a standard size, I just drop it on a blank standard-sized canvas. For example, I often get 6x9's as my camera shoots in a 2:3 ratio and I usually fill the frame when I shoot. So, rather than be forced to crop something off for a 5x7, I crop the pic at 6x9, then drop it onto an 8x10 canvas (using Photoshop Elements). Then I get it printed as an 8x10 with a white border. Or I'll drop 4 2x3's on a 4x6 canvas ... much cheaper to get a 4x6 than 2 wallets, do not ask me why!

I haven't had a problem with my pictures from walmart. I use the online 1-hour digital printing. My photos were printed on matte kodak paper. The I believe the lab was just updated at the store I go to, so maybe that helps. I can't say anything about the staff though. They don't seem to knowledgeable about the machines or processing.

I have had pretty good luck with 2 of the Wal Marts near me. I will not go to Meijer again for prints. I have had terrible luck with them. Their machine always seems to be down or they can't guarantee in 1 hour. Plus the colors aren't true. I just placed my first Snapfish.com order yesterday. I am really anxious to see how these pictures turn out.

Ok....I'm gonna try the Snapfish thingie, since many of you are recommending it. I just went to their site and signed up. I like that the pics will be mailed directly to me. With the cost of gas nowadays (and how far away I live from everything), delivery is cheaper than driving!

I used to use the Walmart upload site, but found that it acted very strange. Even tho I'd order 2 or 3 prints of some photos, on some screens it would indicate that I'd only ordered one. Very confusing. Also, I was unhappy with the quality of some of my pics from there.

Now, I have been printing my own, but I'm getting tired of replacing ink cartridges left and right, which is very expensive! (I think I'll save this option for just printing specialty sizes when I want them.)

I have used wal mart and been happy. Never had any problems, but I formatted all my pics beforehand, so never had any crop issues.

That said, my Costco does prints for cheaper than wal mart, (.16 for 4x6) and 8x10 are only 1.99! And you can get 8x12 for the same price, just leave it formatted as a 4x6. So I have switched to Costco. I used Sams Club for a while and had NOTHING but problems, but I have had great luck with Costco!

I have to agree with Colleen, winkflash has terrific color! Snapfish is OK and I'm not sure how they compare costwise but when I got my prints the first time from winkflash I was shocked how great they looked.

Oh Im so sorry for your picture problems, I have had nothing but good pictures from my local walmart. I upload them and do the one hour thing. The only time I run into a problem is if I print one that was not taken on high quality. then they seem grainey.

Has anyone used the digital service there? If so, what did you think? I usually either print my own photos or have Costco do it, but yesterday I was at Wal-mart hunting down a Lego knight for ds and decided to use their service. The pics sucked! The colors are off and they're not trimmed well. I was very disappointed and won't use their service again. Anyone else have this problem? Costco does such a fantastic job for the same price, so I'll just stick w/ them.

Funny thing you brought this up. I was just there two days ago and was not impressed at all. You are right. . . the colors are off and the photo itself wasn't trimmed worth a [******]. I went to my local drugstore to have them reprinted and compared the quality. It's a very noticeable difference. I don't know what their problem is or what they're doing different but I don't like it.

It varies with store from what I understand. The pics from my closest store are wonderful.

I had the same issue with Walmart, though not with digital prints, but with a regular roll even. The colors in the photos where a lot different in quality from other places (this is in canada). Since I've taken photography, i think its due to the fact that walmart is a huge coporation who gets more customer en mass to develope photographs. They may not change there chemicals enough, but also the cropping could be due to the amount of time it takes to do the photos and many places hire people with photography experience, but walmart does not seem to care. I would keep your business with Costco and skip walmart for photos.

the last time i went to wal-mart to develope my pictures was 5 years ago...YUP! that long ago....i took my niece's first birthday pictures to walmart to get them develope (roll not digital) and when i got them pack i noticed they looked old (the color was off) and something just seemed off...anyways getting to my point...my niece had weenie the pooh pinata and when i got to those pictures weenie the pooh t-shirt read "hoop"....i'm thinking to myself "no they didn't"

...mind you i was not upset, hey...just a simple mistake...right? (i like to say i'm very patient)...so when i asked the lady if she noticed anything wrong with my pictures she said no...then i asked her if she knew who weenie the hoop was ('cuz i sure didnt') she thought i was being funny and then she notice and said that they would have to charge me to redo them! WHAT!?

it's your mistake and they can't redo them! so i refused to pay for the service, gave them their pictures back, took my negatives to eckerd's (now cvs) and they re-developed my pictures for free...since then i was very faithful with eckerd's but since last year when they became cvs i've taken my pictures to walgreens because they usually have the one hour develope for 6.99 and second set for 1 dollar more (good deal, since i always get double prints).

i agree -- the quality varies depending on the store and the tech. when they print well, it's perfect -- i like that they use fuji crystal archive paper, it's cheap, and we can get it quickly, but we've had so many bad experiences, i order online at snapfish or print at home.

I am a snapfish convert - will not use any other service unless I need one right away (then, I use the kodak photo machines.) I order a ton of pics from snapfish when there are coupons so I have tons of filed photos on hand to work with for layouts. Wal-mart is good with pictures here.But I havent been there to get pictures developed there in atleast 1 year,if not more.What is snapfish?I have never heard of it before.

No problems at my local Wal-mart, but I've only used them a couple of times. I don't like that the only way to submit is via the kiosk and there is only one kiosk. If there is a line, you're stuck.

Hmmmm...I'm not surprised that other people had problems there, but Ibscrapping, that is HORRIBLE that they were going to make you pay for their mistake! That's ridiculous!

I have used snapfish once, but I am so impatient that I either use 1 hour at Costco or print them myself. When I have a pic I want to scrap, I can't wait!

hence the reason why i will never take my pictures to wal-mart or SAM's...i will continue to shop there, but will not get my pictures developed by them ever again...i will have to try Costco. What are their prices, emilyb?

I just bought my first digital camera last week and had some prints made at Walmart. I thought they looked great. But I've also used the Kodak Color Machine there to make copies of color prints from my 35mm camera and I wasn't impressed with the color with that.

It must be different store to store, and technician to technician! I have mine done at WM sometimes and I get really great pics...I always get the cd anyway, that way I can crop and adjust anyway I want.

Costco's prices are the same a WM (.19/4x6), plus they will do white borders, which I almost always use, plus matte ppr. The quality is really fabulous.

I used Wal-Mart to upload photos and get them from the one hour. I spent all this time cropping and color correcting them.....when I picked them up here they had fixed it so they'd 'fit' a 4x6 and it caused photos to come out off centered and heads cut off.....no where on the website did it say they'd 'correct' them. Then I got a few doubles of some photos and no copies of others. 2 words....NEVER AGAIN!

I haven't done Wal-mart photo developing in ANY form for a few years. I got some photos developed and when I picked them up, I turned around and handed them the negatives to enlarge one of the photos of my friends' adorable girls - when I got the enlargement back, there was a line through it - so I looked at the negative and it was scratched through the entire strip. I ended up scanning the photo with Kodak Picture maker and enlarging it (this was a few years ago - I now have my own scanner & printer)

I'll NEVER use them again. The majority of their employees don't know squat about photography/developing/etc . . .

I had cropped them down to the size I wanted so I didn't have to mess around with cutting them down. I do this alot to save time and when I'm travling by plane some where so I don't have to take scissors. Besides why pay for what you're going to cut off and throw away

OMG Raquel, this exact thing happened to me, well almost. DS had on an OLD NAVY shirt and it was printed backward when Wal-mart developed the film. I kept my pics though and I still have that pic somewhere. I didn't end up paying for ALL the pics, just some. I didn't want them having pics of my baby so I paid the price, but never went back! To me, their service took too long and the colors were always off. In the states I take mine to Walgreen's and have been perfectly happy with their service! Here, I pefer HEB - just in case anyone needed a referral in Mexico
