Little girls S/B themed b-day party ideas

My DD is having a b-day coming up soon, and she would like to have a scrapbook themed b-day party. Since the gifts we plan to buy her will already be costly, we decided not to spend very much on her party.

I would like some party ideas that are cost effective and s/b themed if anyone has any ideas.

I plan to buy s/b supplies at the $ section of target and joanns for party favors. Also my DD and I will make the invites so they are scrap themed. Also most of the kids coming have their own supplies

If this helps the kids will range in ages 5-11, and to help cost she is only having 7 guest of which there will be 2 boys.

When my dd turned 5 she had a scrapbooking party. The girls made paper bag albums (cheap - like a dollar for all the bags we needed). I think they were 5 X 5; I pre-cut all the cardstock and pp they would need. (Mostly stuff I didn't use or want anymore.) Then they used stickers, punches, ribbons, buttons, "gems", etc to scrap. We didn't have any pictures, I told the girls to add their own pictures when they got home. They loved it, dd is 9 now and all the Moms still talk about that party! Good luck!

How about 'Friend' cards? If you wanted you could precut the cards and maybe shapes to use for embelishments- or cardboard stencils if you want to let the children cut the shapes they want. they could embelish with whatever you have available- glitter, brads ribbons, fibers, markers charms or jewels, deco scissors... and for cards elmers glue is always helpful especially for kids, they are already familiar with it from school
Or a Grown-Up card for their Mom, Dad or Grandparent. If you are doing the scrap book already you could do a smaller card to go into the book for journaling, or do journal cards for the scrap book?

I picked up some solid color picture frames at one of those stores (I can't remember if it was J's or M's) for a $1. I let my nephews use my scraps and some old stickers, ribbon, etc. to decorate those frames and I took a picture of them and put it in the frame for them to take home. They turned out really cute.

we did this for my daughter's 12th birthday. I bought $1.00 albums at Dollar General and some cheap packs of paper. I let them have at any and all of my scraps, every punch I could get my hands on, and a limited amount of stickers. I spent maybe $3.00 for actual supplies and that included glue sticks. I showed them how to make things like flowers and trees with the different punches.

The BIG thing we did though was we had a "photo session" at the start of the party. I was lucky that my best friend is a photographer so for Joni's birthday present she set up a background and took pictures of all the girls as a group and as individuals. You could probably do this yourself with a sheet or blanket. Anyway, we did the photo session then while the girls were eating pizza, cake and ice cream and opening presents, Molly made a dash to walmart and had all the pictures printed in wallet size and in multiples. I think she spent MAYBE $20 total on pictures.

She made it back by the time the girls were done eating and they spent the rest of the night scrapping those pictures and some of the girls brought more to scrap as well. I also showed some of the girls how to make cards with lots of scrap paper.

We finally forced all 6 or 7 girls to go to bed about 3 a.m. I found out later a couple of them snuck back to the scrap spot we had set up and scrapped some more.

That is still Joni's all time favorite birthday party and she will soon be 19!!

I like this project idea. That way even if they don't scrap again they will have a completed project. I would make my books either primary colors and basic patterns so they are basic for just about any pictures or I would use papers that are seasonal, so if her birthday is in the spring everybody would make a spring theme book.

Maybe you already looked into this but our lss host scrapbooking party's for kids. not sure of the cost, but might be worth looking into. I think Michael's will do one as well.

I live in a small town so their is no place that offers a crop night...booo

I plan to have it at my home....heres the mega hurdle.....their is no room to spread in my scraproom or the dinning, my table is long but with 7 kids and 4 adults....it will not work for scrapping. I think I will lay sheets out in the living room which has better lighting anyway. But that leaves the fact that the carpet is soft and will be hard for writing. I am hoping if I just buy poster board that it will add the needed amount of hardness.

I plan to set out my new cricut, paper slicer, and a few of my tools that I am willing to share with my help of course....

Should I have a theme of what we will crop? Should I teach a technique? Or should I just let them create their own? I have no idea what to do next?

I just went today and bought all the scrap goodies, target has 12 x 12 printed non cs for $1, so I got each kid a pack, 2 packs of embellies,and a pack of letters gel pens, and glue sticks (scrap brand)....most of the kids already have their own supplies anyhow...so this is just favors. They will be bringing their own crop supplies and photos to the party.

I went to walmart today and they have this ginormous kit valued at over $100 for only $15....I grabbed one for each DD (saving one for my older DD's b-day) They are perfect for little girls to get them started. You all should check them out. I didn't know they had these, so I had already loaded up at target and joanns for the b-day girl, so now she has an astronomical amt. of supplies after she factors in what she purchased over the weekend. (she spent her x-mas $ on all scrap supplies)


I think I want to buy some chocolate for each kids favor bag as well, to munch on through out the night.

I just need to make the invites, and decide on food now.

But I would love more ideas or advice, I have only had 1 unofficial crop night here for the kids, and have never attended one myself.

Oh yeah one more thing I will be doing is making a LO of the b-day girl which will be where everyone can see.....I will have precut cs that I will later adhere to the LO. On these cs peices each person the party will be given one and asked to write something about the b-day girl, weather it be what they like most about her, or something they enjoy doing (or did) with her this past year ect. ect. This will be a nice keepsake for her album (the one I am doing for her) I want it kept preserved, lol

We did one years ago for my niece's 6th party! We had each child bring pictures of themselves or with the birthday girl or their favorite things. We gave each a page and put out the supplies like you are already planning. We did a page because at that tim scrapping was still fairly new and not everyone was into it as much as they are now.

The kids sat at the table and the mom's gathered behind them to help out with tools etc. however most of them were capable and the moms ended up talking quite a bit!
About the time everyone finished we were ready to serve cake and the party was over. It is a nice activity for the party.

FYI- I have two boys and they both like doing crafts. Just make sure you put out some primary colors as well.

The table was a regular 6ft patio table with about 12 kids around it! They had enough room!

For my dd's 12th or 13th b-day party, I bought her one of those polaroid camera's that produced thumbnail size pictures and a few rolls of film. They took pictures of each other all night and then they scrapped the pictures into a small keychain scrapbook. They loved it so much that when they woke up in the morning (it was a sleep over), they started scrapping again. They worked on the floor. I had a bunch of alphabet stickers that I got from Dollar Tree and stickers as well. I let them use my supplies of pp & flowers.
