Help! Can't adhere to GLITTER paper!

Hi All

I am working on a lo with a strip of glitter border. I am trying to put a photo on it but it won't stick.

I have tried runner tape, zip glue pen, and regular glue stick. No matter, it won't stick.

How do you adhere to glitter cardstock?

Glossy accents, glue dots or the double sided super tape with the red lining. I guess with a photo it wouldn't be glossy accents.

Zip-dry or glue dots.

The roll of double sided tape that has a red lining, it's called Terrifically Tacky Tape (had to search the store to find it's exact name, LOL).

I think there may have been a few different manufacturers that carry it. I've seen it at M's (and Wally World I THINK) but not with that exact packaging. You get the jist though.

SOMEONE TOLD ME TO USE GLUE. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE ONLY THING THAT DID THE TRICK WAS LIQUID GLUE.

regular double-sided tape is worthless on glitter paper

Echoing what is above - the red back taped which I think is the Terrifically Tacky Tape is awesome for glitter paper and a good brand glue dots will work that come on the sheet but I've not had luck with the glue dots that come in a box and they are on a roll.

Glitter paper is hard to work with but the dots or red backed paper will work perfect!

Just wanted to chime in....I have actually had Glue Dots and the red Tacky Tape NOT work with extremely glittered items when it is a loose glitter and not sealed in. No matter how sticky dry adhesives are, if they become coated with loose glitter, they won't stick anymore.

I use Zip Dry for photos and paper and Fabri-tac for everything else when I'm using loose glitter.

I have the same issues with glitter paper. A thought just entered my head. I wonder if using sandpaper on an area just small enough to adhere the adhesive would solve the problem? If it will be covered up w/ a picture or something anyway, it should not matter if the sanding roughs it up and makes a small spot messy.

I may have to try that. I have been working with strips of glitter paper on my Christmas cards.

If it's REALLY glittery (Like the kind you come away with glitter all over youo) then only liquid glue holds,,,,,,,zip dry is good because it won't warp your paper.

if it's more of a glossed glitter paper, then as suggested glue dots or tacky tape. But I find those eventually give way too if it's the really loose glittery kind of paper.

I like the idea of sandy a tiny place the size of the glue dot. I hate hate hate working with wet glue of any kind because I make a mess. I get it everywhere.

I love my zig pen and even manage to make a mess with it.

I'll have to pick up some of the Zip Dry - that is one I haven't tried. I tried FabriTac on Fabrics a long time ago. It worked great, but Lord, did I make a mess with it!

I have the skills of a 3 year old when it comes to crafts!

If you are using the Doodlebug glitter cardstock, I recommend Zip Dry liquid glue.

I my experience, tapes and dots do not stick to the paper the way that liquid glue does. It gets in all the nooks and crannies between the glitter.

I got glitter paper once - and only once. The only way I could attach anything to it was using brads, photo corners, and frames which attached to the photo, and folded over the edge of the glitter paper and adhered to the back.

Tried glitter paper on a project for GS - used lots of brads.

I'm telling you, Zip Dry works on ALL glitter, flocked and otherwise tricky paper

If the picture is wider than the border, put some of the glue on the background paper. Or, you could use some eyelets, brads, or brad photo corners.

I make my own glue dots with Aleane's tack it over and over....never had an issue and I use a lot of glitter paper!!!

I would use any liquid solvent type glue, Zip Dry, Beacon's 3 in 1, or Fabritac. I used the 3 in 1 to adhere transparency to AC glittered paper (that sutff is gorgeous) and its holding well. I love my home made glue d**s, but on heavily glittered paper that is not sealed (aka DCVW) I would use a liquid glue that is solvent based (doesn't warp paper) and dries fast.

I waited to comment on this because I had plans to use glitter paper for two LO's, both of which were of glacier ice. I used two sheets of "sugared paper" as the backing and two glittered coredinations papers. The sugared paper is very hard to work with. I had wanted to cut flowers out of some of it and it is so thick...almost plastic like, that my Fiskers almost wouldn't do it. I ended up using hot glue to glue the Core to the sugared paper. It turned out well, but it's a little bit of a battle.

I am making a cover page for a memory book using glitter paper by The Paper Studio that I purchased from Hobby Lobby. I purchased some alpha stickers by The Paper Studio - Bubba-abilities. When adereing the stickers to the glitter paper, the are lifting and not sticking well. I tried using Elmer's Craft Bond and setting a heavy book on top of the page, but that did not work. I also tried the glue dots on the corners/middle of the letters and sticking them that way. It helped some, but not as secure as I would like. I then added a coast of Modge Podge over the letters. It still did not seal the letters well.

I need these letters to really stick as the books will be handled a great deal on an upcoming vacation. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Would putting a coat of Modge Podge over the glitter cardstock first help the letters adhere any better if I backed them with glue dots?

Try adhesive spray? Try using an adhesive tape roller over the areas you want glittered and see if that helps.

zip dry glue is really good might go for it??

Glitter paper is a nightmare for sticking things to. I think we've all discovered that the first time we try to use it!

Try staples, brads, eyelets that go right through. Glue dots work pretty well, and Glossy Accents.
