I HATE Walgreens new photo software

Every time I go to Walgreens now I have to get someone to help me figure out how to print my photos. I hate the new software in the machine.

I've heard a lot of other people complain about it and the store associates tell me that no one is happy with them - they don't like the new software either.

So why did they fix it if it wasn't broken?

I dread when I have to develope pictures now becuase I hate trying to figure out the machine.

Is Walgreens your only choice for printing your pics?

I hate when they change programs when we are already comfortable with the old one! Makes it hard on us non- computer savvy peeps!

I do most of mine at Walmart on line and have it shipped to the store, for free. It's cheaper and works for me, I rarely ever need them in a hour.

I've never printed in store at walgreens but I used their online ordering all the time. But they upgraded the photo site and nos whenever I use the site to try and upload/print photos if freezes up and I have to force quit! I've tried on 5 different computers and the same results every time! So frustrating...so I switched to shutterfly. But I don't see why they had to change that either!

Well, Miss Henri- then it is time for you to tell your man that you need an iPad! Then you can get the Walgreens app, and just highlight all your pictures and hit send to Walgreens.

The new computer program at Walmart stinks too! It won't let you chose "brighten", or other special editing features that are necessary to most scrapbookers! The only way they will let you do that now is if you let them print them (not one hour) and then whatever flunky they have working there get's to chose for you how dark or light you want your photos! THIS STINKS! I don't know why they think this is service! Love Penny

I always print at Walgreen's, but I do it by uploading the pictures at home and choosing in-store pickup, which is often less than an hour.

I use shutterfly for my personal photos. You can have them sent to target, walgreens or CVS for printing.

Do you have an Archivers nearby? Idon't know if they all do, but mine has a machine whre you can print your photos off.

You are right about Archivers photo machine. I just started using it a few months ago. You can use your camera card, cd & it has a scanner too. I have been getting old pics developed from yrs ago. I just scan them & it prints them out instantly. Same with the prints too. I like having the option.

We've talked about getting ipads but I'm just not sure what kind of tablet I want. Micro Soft is supposed to have one with Windows 7 and I've been dragging my feet for that one.

The tablet market is really starting to explode and I like that I have choices.

My son loves his Xoom but it has a few bugs I think.

I just can't decide what I want.

I tried updownloading or downloading my photos after the last trip but you can't do 1,800 photos. In fact last month I needed 413 I think and you can't do that from home computer without it freezing. Or I can't.

Bill bought me a new laptop for Christmas but we are both thinking seriously about tablets so they will be lighter for traveling.

I have to have USB ports and several other things and just haven't found one yet with everything I want.

Getting close though. Just want to see what MicroSoft is going to throw out there!

I also want to be able to use WORD. I'm too old to have to learn new programs!

well, if you're anything like me and want something totally easy and idiot proof- the iPad is the best. It is amazing. There's a reason it's so popular, not just cuz it was the first. It was so great it made me want a MacBook for my next laptop.

From the moment I got my iPad, I barely even used my regular computer!

But then again, I don't deal with even a percentage of the photos that you do!!! So, we probably have totally different needs.

But I do love all my apps on my iPad. I use Photoshop Express lots, Pixlromatic to edit/add effects, Sketchbook, Walgreens to send pics to print, the internet, and of course- PLANTS VS ZOMBIES. lol

iPad has been calling me but when I buy something its lasts forever so I really want to compare a lot of different ones.

The apps on iPad is a big draw for me there. No flash availability is a negative. But I like the idea of the apps. The apps are really appealing on the iPad!

I still have a lot of shopping to do. The most important things to me are the way I can handle large volumes of photos and get them on a flash drive for a back up so if the ship sinks I can grab the thumb or flash with my pictures

In fact I need 2 USB ports - one for keyboard (I type about 90-95 WPM (words per minute) but I need a keyboard, cannot type without a normal keyboard so typing is very frustrating to me without a real keyboard. Many times I edit things on my flash drive so I have to have 2 USB ports.

The keyboard could possibly be handled by wireless, don't know.

Also need a USB port for flash drive and I often use flash and keyboard at the same time. Also need USB for printer. One of my printers at home is wireless, the other is not.

On cruises we trade photos on flash drives so if I have someone else's flash I open their photo file and the one on my computer and choose what to drag onto my computer to save.

I need compatibility with Word so I can transfer journaling and docment files back and forth from my tablet to my laptop. I just bought a new copy of Office Professional 2003 WORD for my new laptop. (Came in the mail yesterday) I called Apple and they said I would have to use one program on my laptop and another on my tablet - could not transfer files back and forth because Word or MicroSoft Office is not compatible with Word. (The only version of Word I really like is 2003.)

The other problem I have is my email program - Incredimail, which I love. I called both Apple and Incredimail and they are not compatible.

Bill gets him email on line and has to read and answer it online. If we have 20 minutes in a port to check email he scrambles to read and respond to it. Very difficult.

I have incredimail (actually Cox but it works with AOL, Yahoo, Google or anything). But if I have 20 minutes I just turn my computer on and hook up to the internet. I can be doing anything else I want on the computer and the email automatically downloads if it is connected.

Then my email is in Incredimail and I can read it when I don't have internet access, which Bill can't do. I can answer it in Incredimail and when I have internet signal again, it will automatically send it out. I don't even have to be on the computer, my computer just has to be on. I search the internet and my email will automatically send and receive.

So those are things that are most important to me - multiple USB ports, Incredimail compatibility, Microsoft Office (Word) compatibility and ability to handle large volumes of photos.

I love ViewSonice desktop monitors and they have a laptop with both Windows and Droid enabled but they aren't getting great reviews on their tablets. I don't know why. You can enable the droid platform and get apps or you can enable the windows platform and you get windows 7 which will work with my Microsoft office and Incredimail. ANd, I think it has 3 USB ports! Maybe only 2, but I think I read that it has 3.

If I can find a tablet with great reviews that will handle mega amounts of photos as well as be compatibile with Incredimail and MicroSoft office, and has at least 2 USB ports - its going in my shopping cart now!

So iPad is very tempting but I'm afraid I will be very frustrated not having one that is compatible with my laptop.

Does that make sense or am I being too picky?

I've uploaded thousands of photos to shutterfly without issue. The problem sounds like either you computer or your internet connection, but most likely your computer.

I should also add that I take, on average, 1000 photos a week at least. I'm constantly uploading and having photos printed off. For scrapbooking, friends & family out of town, to give prints to people that were also in the photos, etc. I've only had an issue with freezing one time and that was on my old desktop that was on its last leg, but for some reason I did not want to give it up. lol

Thanks Lori. This computer is on its last leg. I got a new one for Christmas but I'm still customizing it before I use it. I tried loading several thousand pictures from a hotel somewhere when we were on a trip and it woudn't take them - just kept freezing.

I will try it again on my my new computer. Maybe that is the problem.

I'm used to passing Walgreen all the time and I have my flash and just put them in the machine, press a few buttons (they are already edited) and I walk around the store or run out to lunch while they print. Always been so simple but now I look at their new machine and my eyes glaze over.

The people in that department said its a pain for them, much more difficult than the old program and none of the customers are happy with it.

As soon as I get on my new computer I will try downloading them.

ok so I didn't read all these suggestions but if you have a CVS pharmacy they have a kiosk that print mini prints as well. 2x3's & 1x1.5 and I think smaller. It's awesome I don't mess with cropping with scissors or paper cutters anymore. I just print a variety of sizes and I'm happy with the quality of photos.

That is good to know. SOmetimes I want smaller sizes - will try CVS.

For 30 days (or something like that) all apple devices (iPad, iPhone and macs) have access to any photos you take on the iPhone or uploaded on your (apple) computer and you can access it from any computer. I do not know if that is exactly what you need, but i thought i would throw it out there.

Husband just gave me a new computer for Christmas with Windows 7 which I love.

We live in Ocala Florida. There is no one here who works on mac or apple products so if I get anything apple I cannot get it serviced locally.

It's a royal pain when we have a problem with our iPhones.

Well, I will say that I don't have the budget for a iPad/Tablet, lol. Just got a new desktop with Windows 7 and had to save for a long time and suffer not being able to buy scrappy goodies for awhile, so. With that being said I have used Walmart, Walgreens and Shutterfly online for a couple of years now for printing my photos and of course I have a Kodak printer too, if I happen to have enough color ink and photo paper at the time. But I haven't had any problems uploading and then picking up or getting shipped to me from any of those places. I did have a freezing problem with Walgreens one time but that was on my old puter that was on its last leg too.
