Best way to store / organize 12x12 paper - vertical or flat?

Topic Closed

I am really wanting to organize my 12x12" papers / cardstock better so I can see what I have. Right now, they are in a large bin made to hold 12x12" filing folders. I have them organized by colors in seperate folders, but it's impossible to really see what I have without taking the whole folder out and rooting through it all. I was thinking about the Cropper Hopper vertical paper holders. But I also saw trays and was wondering which is better. I was thinking I would be better able to visualize what I have with the vertical storage, but was concerned that the paper might warp / bend standing up. What products do you use? Which method do you prefer?

I definitely prefer the vertical storage vs. horizontal. I have several Cropper Hopper vertical paper holders. I don't have a problem with damaged or warped paper. Most of my ch holders are full.

It's very easy to pull out the paper I need and put back what I don't use.

I don't like horizontal because for me I had to pull out the whole stack of paper to get what I needed or put back what I didn't use. To me, it didn't seem as protected, either.

I have the MM Filer cube. I just ordered a second one. The only bad thing is the folders are a bit pricey, but well worth it in my opinion.

I have the Cropper Hopper vertical paper storage containers and I love them! They take up less space than other paper organizers, and it is easy to see what you have. I think you will like them better than horizontal storage containers.

I use the vertical Cropper Hopper paper holders too and I love them. No problem with bending either (mine are pretty full though )I even found an inexpensive Sterlite container that will hold 6 of them. Keeps them dust free and provides a little more "table" space to work with.

I also have the vertical holders & love them!

I have the Cropper Hopper s also. I love them. They each hold a ton of paper. Cardstock colors are clearly visible and I don't have to pull out a whole stack of pp to look at it. I can just flip through at the corner.
I don't know if either way is "better" for storage, I think it's much more personal preference and amount of space available.

I too just purchased 2 vertical Cropper Hopper s, 1 for solids, 1 for pp and luv them. Especially for the price (got them both at J's using a 40% coupon). I think you get more bang for the buck in that you can not only store, but readily see your selection easier. The horizontal units look really nice, but for me after I factored in the price, the space needed and then still have to pull out the stack to see through what I have, I decided the CH was the way to go.

I have done both at some point and I prefer vertical. It is easier to take out the paper you want to use. When they were flat and stacked it seemed I always wanted the piece on the bottom and I had to move all the other paper to pull it from the stack.

Cropper Hopper all the way!!! Just bought a new set for 60% off at J's (with a coupon!). I like having each theme individual. Paper Stackers seem to take more room and I would think, would get very dusty.

Another vote for the Cropper Hopper vertical storage! Bending hasn't been a problem for me; I've found that you just don't want to fill them too full because then it's hard to put paper back in. But it's so easy to flip through and find what you want and take out one sheet at a time.

I do both, but only because when I started organizing I bought those 12x12 drawers for storage and didn't want to buy all new storage stuff. If I had it to do all over again, it would be all vertical. I just use the drawers for stacks and also for tools and things now that I'm emptying some of them out.

I store both vertical and horizontal. Though most of my paper is stored horizontal. The vertical files that I use are large, and I love them, but only have enuf space for a couple. I use my horizontal 12x12 storage for papers and also for just about everything else!

I love the vertical Cropper Hopper paper holders because they take up less space. For cardstock you can see the paper colours clearly from the side.

However, for patterned paper , it's a little different. I have to move the holder off the shelve in order to find the right ones. However, I use the paper dividers and the envelope holders to separate out the pp, so it works for me too.

Love the cropper hooper ones. You can fit so much more in a small space

I don't have very much paper and cardstock, but right now it is stored horizontally. I thought I would like it, but I actually don't because I always mess it up looking for a paper. Somehow, the one I need is always at the bottom.

I have a Cropper Hopper verticle cart and another that I got from Office Max. The one from Office Max is shorter but sturdier and was cheaper. I cut legal size folders to size then duct taped the bottoms and tops together to make my 12 x 12 hanging folders at a fraction of the cost of buying them.

I label the edge of my Cropper Hopper . I have one folder for each type of paper, ie., flowers, themes, stripes, etc. I use the large holders for solids and of course, my Christmas paper!!
