cricut and felt

I am an early childhood education major and am looking to make felt board stories or felt cutouts. Will the cricut cut felt? What about the deep cut housing/blade?
  • Bran
Yes the cricut will cut felt but you may need to purchase the deep cut blade. I am not sure about that though. I have not cut felt before.

I have been trying this, with both the regular blade set the deepest and the deep housing blade set the deepest. I have played with the speed and pressure as well. I have been trying to cut the stiffened felt with the adhesive back. NO LUCK! So, if anyone has advice, please let me know. It will cut through portions, but not the whole letter.

feel free to read this thread for the answer but as I remember it

You have to have a stabilizer or the felt with sticky backing and it should cut just like fabric or a chipboard.

Sorry this is the thread I meant to give you

I have moved on to the Sizzix and it does a fantastic job. It makes a clean thorough cut (the Stick'rzfelt is what I am using).

Regarding using the Cricut...it was not that is was slipping, etc...it simply could not cut through it and in some places not even enough to leave a good stencil for handcutting. And, this was with the deep cut housing blade. Theoretically it maybe should be able to do it, since the felt is thinner than the specs on the blade, but I would not rush out and buy it to do with the Cricut unless I had no other option. And then, based on my experience, get a good CutterBee Scissor for detail cutting. I have also read the Cuttlebug is a good alternative too.

Well, I am glad you found a way to get it done. Great advice btw!
