problems printing on vellum

My printer -- an HP Photosmart Premium -- will not consistently print captions on vellum, especially words over a 50 point font. The ink is very patchy. And then normal printing is affected for several pages.
Is there a better printer for this? Or a brand of vellum that grabs better?

I find that it really helps to use the Perfect Printing Pouch from Scraperfect. Pounce would probably work as well although of course a container will last you several lifetimes.

Also, try various settings to see which might work better - I actually use Best Photo a lot, but Transparency might work better for you if you're only printing in black.

You can buy "inkjet vellum" but I never have, I just buy packs of vellum from M's, Arc Paper, or Paper Temptress.

Oh - and there ARE vellums that don't take well to printing (colored and printed/patterned ones are more likely to not work, ime) so you may have to experiment a little. I also really love an eggshell finish for some journalling and titles because it doesn't disappear when you glue it down on the paper, so it's better for putting on darker backgrounds.

I also have had luck with best photo and transparency when printing on Vellum.

When I had issues printing on vellum I rubbed it with a paper bag and that helped. But I'm not sure if it works on all vellums

When I print on velum it works fine for the top 2/3's or the page, then get splotchy for the bottom 2/3's - don't know why. So now I don't print full 8 1/2 x 11 - I run it through but print half, cut off what I want to use and then use the other half another time - it still goes through the printer again just fine.

I've learned the hard way with printing on vellum and transparencies. The laser printers work best for these. What I do sometimes is print out exactly what I want onto regular printer paper then take it to my local postal express store and copy it onto my vellum or transparency. Their printer is a laser printer and it works great. The ink dries super fast. I have an inkjet printer.
