paper odor

Does the smell of your paper bother you? It really bothers me for some reason. I use to keep it all in a rubbermaid containers sealed with a lid. Whenever I opened the container the smell or chemical would really irritate my eyes and nose. So this weekend I decided to make a paper tower thinking 1- it would be good to organize my paper 2- lay it flat so It wouldn't bend and 3- let it air out. I figured it was in too much of a sealed container not letting it breath making it stinky. Anyway I made my tower on thursday and I've left the windows open everyday to air out my craft room, but it still is so strong to me. Any recommendations? Or am I the only person on the planet that the paper bothers?

Is it a specific brand? I've never noticed an odor on paper before?

I am sure you are not, but I know most girls love the smell. Some companies seem to be stronger than others. Pink Paislee for me is the worst, but I'll take it because I love their paper lol.

It's funny because I can work with nasty epoxy, house cleaners, go into nail salons etc, and have no problems, but the paper really gets to me. I want to love It.
Colbycheesecat- I have not noticed it being better or worse with any specific brands.
I wonder if because I left it in the sealed bins for so long the odor got stronger?

My father had his own printing press and had lots of tricks for dealing with the smell. Most I doubt are acid free.

I love the smell of printing ink well most ones. The metalics blagh. But if you knew what was in them then you wouldn't want to get too close anyway.

I cant say that I ever noticed that much of a smell off of my paper, especially not enough that I would need to air out the room.. you must have a sensitive sniffer.

You're not pregnant are you? Sounds like a crazy question but a friend got extra sensitive to smell while preggo.

I hate the smell of paper too so you are not alone. I have some CTMH papers that are absolutely obnoxious. Can't recall other brands that stink but I there are others that bother me. Walking into my LSS after they unload new papers - whoa.

Hopefully with time the smell will diminish.

I love the smell of paper too so I am no help. Now some ink pads on the other hand... yikes!

Interesting. Never noticed the smell, but I have three large dogs and two have frequent, ah, "digestive" issues. It is often hard to notice the smell anything else when they are "digesting" in full force.

I do notice that my paper has a "smell" to it, but I happen to LOVE it! Even just walking down the paper aisles at Hobby Lobby or Michael's, ect...I just take a big whiff and "aaahhhh"...LOVE IT!! LOL

I love me some Paper Smell. If they made a Paper Smell Perfume, I would totally wear it. My favorite part of getting a new paper collection is cracking open that plastic wrap and sucking down that first whiff of awesomeness. No, I do *not* have a problem!

What's strange is I love the smell of regular printing paper especially after it has gone through the printer and it's warm.

The more I think about it I really think it has something to do with be in a sealed container and the chemicals being trapped inside. I'm going to give it another week. Plus I went and got a wall flower from BB&B and put that in there so it would mabe mask the smell. (((Fingers crossed)))

I don't mind most paper smells...but I hate the way grungeboard smells!

Uhh.. I'm a total paper sniffer.

If I buy paper while out, I have to have the bag on the front seat next to me so I can reach over and stroke it every now and then.

I'm sorry it bothers you! Hopefully airing it out will help. I am also a paper smell lover. I love opening the package of new paper I ordered or the paper aisle at the store...all stress is just sniffed away!

I adore the smell of paper! When I open a new pack of BG, it's like heaven! The only thing better, is the smell of a new box of Crayola crayons.

(I don't have a problem, I swear!)

I most like the smell of paper. Last summer I bought a collection from SEI that I almost called an electrican because I thought that I was having a wiring problem. That collection is not in the superstore, I don't think anyone would want it in their store. PEEEEEWWWWWW!

Shopping in the local bookstore used to give me a stomach ache. Never had a problem with any other paper smells though.

paper does have an odor and when I was pregnant it drove me nuts. Letting the paper air out did help (took awhile). try putting some baking soda or a dryer sheet (helps with smoke so it maybe okay for paper) with your paper.

Just one day with the wallflower has really helped.
