Fiskars Rotary Blade Paper Cutters...

My mother-in-law and I are just getting into card making and we were wondering if anyone had used the Fiskars cutting board with the rotary blades. They have some interchangable shapes and such and she hates using patterned scissors. I just wanted feedback from someone before we spend $40 on an item and find later that it wasn't worth it.

I have the cutterpede 12 inch trimmer & I love it. I haven't heard too many positive things about Fiskars trimmers.

I bought the Fiskars rotary trimmer in December. I had the Fiskers paper trimmer, and it never cut straight. I bought the rotary trimmer because I thought the mechanics of it would make it cut straighter. Well, it's straighter....but not always completely straight. It's not wobbly in the middle like it was with the paper trimmer, but when I try to cut a strip, one edge is always a little bit bigger than the other. I don't know if the cutting bar is sitting crooked, or the guide is crooked, or what but just the other day I needed a 3x12 inch strip and after I cut it I measured it with a ruler. It was 3 inches on one edge, and a little less than 3 1/8 inches on the other. If you cut shorter pieces, like a 3x5 mat, then the difference isn't noticable.

I'm not concerned enough about it to buy another paper cutter. It's definitely better than the paper trimmer, but I'm sure there's something out there that actually cuts a straight line.

I have the Fiskars Rotary cutter and have had no problems with it at all. It is big but it works out well in my scrapbooking area. I've had only a few issues with crooked cuts but I honestly think they were all my fault for not paying attention. I love the scoring blade for making cards and I'm going to head over to Michaels to get one of the decorative blades with my coupon this week!

HI, my first post! I am just starting, and I bought the Fiskars 12" rotary--still not that pleased with it. I thought that maybe I wasn't using it right. Took it back once to Michaels and the girl there said she loved hers, I just needed to get used to it.

I mostly use my CM wavy/straight line pattern, but I know there must be a more efficient cropping tool.

I also bought the Fiskars shape cutter, but that has to be used with Fiskars templates. Anyone know of a cutter that can be used with generic templates? (And not destroy them?)

An update:
I took my cutter back to Michael's today. I bought the CM personal cutter yesterday and just love it. I will use their 12 inch cutting pattern for the bigger stuff for the time being.

I LOVE my CM photo trimmer and the Cutting System set is good too, although the little hand razors are a little scary to use.

Thanks so much for having me search under Fiskars... we ended up buying the triple track and really like it! We're just really careful to apply even pressure, so far we haven't had any problems!
