Punches + Fabric?

Have you done it or do you think it would work? I don't have any fusible webbing so I can't cut with my cricut.

Just don't want to jam any of my punches, so I thought I would ask

I would say no, well at least none of my punches would be sharp enough but maybe yours are.

I would have to agree with the ariel21. I don't think a regular punch would be sharp enough.

My punches sometimes jam on regular paper. I wouldn't even consider trying to punch fabric.

What if you put it between pieces of foil? Or use repositionable adhesive with printer paper and then restick it on whatever you need??

Or repositionable adhesive on fabric, stick it to foil, position it into the die so that the fabric is cut before the foil???

Just an idea...

This tip was put on Fiskars TV. But not for punches, but they were using the Ultra Shape Xpress.

They used a glue stick and adhered the fabric to cardstock. When the glue dries, cut, then the fabric will come right off with a pull.

I would say no for punches. That is why I saved my old Sizzix and dies...cut through multiple mediums.

I have tried it and it dosen't work well. I meseed up my fiskars mega scallop trying to punch out some fabric. It still works but has not been right since.

Thanks everyone I think I will just leave it then, and hand cut the fabric instead.

There's this stuff called Ribbon Stiff that I got w/ a club kit once, supposedly you can punch ribbon once you apply it. So I guess it could work w/ fabric too. But I myself haven't tried it out yet so I can't really endorse it at this point...

I broke a punch on friday, trying to punch fabric. Lesson learned and luckily DH was able to take it apart and fix it.

You have to use a product called "Stiffy" on you fabric first. I found mine at J's. You brush it on and it stiffens the fabric and you can then use a punch on it. The demo I saw used the Fiskars Squeeze punches, but i am sure you could use it with other punches as long as they cut through cardstock well.

Oh thanks! Does it have a brand name? I am in Canada and we don't have J's here...
