Scrappy Retreats

I asked about this before and lost my notes. Have you gone on a scrappy retreat and loved it - I am looking for one in Georgia, can you recommend one? Please tell me about it, the accomodations, workspace, cost, etc.

I have been to a few done by different organizations. One I went to was a Scrap & Spa retreat. It was $225.00 for 3 days of scrapping, 1 dinners, 1 lunch, a mani & massage. The hotel was separate so the total cost went up to over $400.00. This next one I am going to is next month. It is $360.00 for 3 days of scrapping, hotel, 1 dinner and a few other things. I know they cost a lot, but I always have a ton of fun with them. I have also done quite a few one day crops. Those go anywhere from $25.00 to $60.00 for the day. Lunch is always served and lunch & dinner for the more expensive ones. I always have about 4 ft. of table space, a spot for my Cricut to be plugged in and plenty of room for my totes.

I go on a retreat twice a year (they host it 4x a year)

Friday 11 AM to Sunday 3 PM
crop room is open at all times
all meals included
each table has a plug
they have a Cricut with carts, Cuttlebug, and tons of punches if you want to use them
a store is set up if you want to make any purchases
they have extra classes available and massages as well for an extra fee
The cost is anywhere from $225 a head (if you don't sleep at the hotel) to $425 a head (if you want a room by yourself)

I love going ... it is always a super fun weekend

I been to two in GA and love it. Very reasonable when you do your own meals if you are getting a group together. There is also a group out of Atlanta that has crops all the time at Camp Crop Alot and in Ellijay.
Here is the site I've been to at the house in Temple. We are going back again and will let you know when, just keep reminding me. Also there are a lot of crops at Petticoat Junction in Normandy, TN. We are trying to put one together for there sometime this fall.

Henry Jean GA is where I am from too. I grew up in Monroe, married and raised my daughters in Winder, then divorce and moved to Cumming, now I am in another state.

I do not live in Georgia, I am in Florida but thought it'd be fun to go up to Georgiafor a scrappy vacation!

I lived in Woodstock - north of Atlanta. Miss it terribly! I still refer to myself as a Georgia girl and my husband corrects himself ever time.

My son lives in Dallas and with the first grandchild being born in that area in September, I'm sure I will bein George even more often!

Scrabooksusie and Henri Jean, I go to one that was held in Oklahoma but has moved to Burkburnett Texas, past Wichita Falls, $150 for friday 3pm to Sunday 1 pmish as well...all meals , snacks...and very much fun!!

it's called scrapawayinmay...it's held in May and November. I would love to meet new people from here...to go there...

I go to one near Charleston WV every year love going to it get a 6 foot table. And loads of fun and good times!

I would love to go to a scrap retreat but doesn't look like it will happen this year. We are leaving in September for most of the rest of the year so no retreats for me this year.

I also have to find retreats where I can have a room with my husband. Some reatreats you can't do that. He will entertain himself in the daytime, but at night we are together.

I would SO love to meet people from here too, but I think Georgia is as far as I could travel and make it for the weekend. I can't take much time off work.

Henri Jean take a look at Heavenly Scrapbook retreats lots in the area and if your husband likes to hike it's in the middle of the Appalachians lots of hiking in the area

That would be awesome - I've been to Charleston, WV twice. My husband loves to hike and explore. He entertains himself beautifully and if it is a weekend he will find every flea market and garage sale for miles!

I don't know when we are going back. We've stopped there on trips - good stopping place and a few months ago the national license plate meet was there. They change the location of that one every year.

Just so we are together at night. That is time we devote to each other. Speaking of which, my feet are really rough so I will get a nice foot massage with lotion tonight.

Henri it's the 23 of September this year....and around that time every year if you hunt for Heavenly Scrapretreat you will find it. carrie and Bev are both awesome. If you decide to come let me know and I'll make sure we sit near each other so you are alone

Sounds good but we leave on a cruise ship out of Seattle on September 26th. We have a lot of people we are going to visit so we have to be in Seattle about a week and a half before the cruise - will also drive to Portland to see husband's son.

OK So it's not in Georgia but Shelly Anne (also from here/sb.com) and I found one in the panhandle (Florida) and it's not until January! We're putting out deposits down on the 26th of this month and have until November 1st to pay it off. Check it out though, we'd love to meet others from here too!

Henri, look into the Scrappers' Dream Vacation events. They hold weekend events in NJ, Orlando, PA, VA and lots of other places. The prices are decent, the price includes cropping time, hotel, and meals. They're talking about going back to a full schedule for next year.

I'm going to my 3rd one next month and I bring my family w/ me. I get to do my work and my hubby and son get a vacation to do what they want. Its alot of fun.

There is an awesome retreat next month at Disney in Orlando. I want to go so bad.... and the girls are all telling me to come on - they want me to go with them.

However, we will be out of the country - in fact in Russia or China so there is no way I can be at the crop and on the cruise. And, the cruise is paid for.

Main thing with retreats - I have to go to ones where there are hotels or places where my husband and I can be together at night. He can amuse himself in the daytime, but at night we are together. We are both cuddle bugs and don't sleep well without the other. Going to bed together at night is the highlight of the day for both of us and we don't spend our nights apart.

I am gletting together for 5 days next month in Dover Delaware with girlfriends from one of my critique groups on the boards. As it turns out, all of our husbands are going so they can amuse each other while we have fun and we are doing a lot of things together - going to Hershey, PA and the scrapbok store, going to Baltimore and to the aquarium and going to Annapolis for a crab dinner and a ghost tour.

However, I'd love a nice scrap retreat but when I'm ready to go to sleep my place is curled up with him.

Do you have any more details on the Disney retreat? I have a friend who would DIE!!!!!

I will see the ladies tomorrow night at crop and I will get the info. It filled as soon as it was opened, but I've heard they have had cancellations so chances of getting in are pretty good. I will find out everything I can because 3 of the ladies at the crop tomorrow or going - maybe more.

Where are you attending one at the beach? I'm totally open in January! In fact we will be home mid December after 3 1/2 months and will be home until March.

I just need to have a room so I can curl up with my husband at night although he can watch tv by himself so I don't need to go to my room until late.
