New Sizzlits

I noticed while shopping online and in the store that some of the Sizzlits said they were for only the Big Kick and Sidekick, or were for the roller machines only. They looked the same, so I wrote CS at Sizzix and this is what they said:

"Thank you for writing. Not all of the new Sizzlits work in the original Sizzix machine. The description of the die will state which machine it is compatible with. If it does not state Sizzix machine and Converter, then those dies will not work in that machine.

This is garbage. I knew that the Bigs wouldn't work and wasn't holding out any hope that they would make many new originals, but was sure that the sizzlits would all work in my machine. I don't see what the difference is between them. Does anyone know? Or tried the new dies in the old machine?

I don't need another machine when mine works fine as it is. I don't have room for two, anyway.

If Quikutz dies and Cuttlebug dies can work with with the Sizzix with Converter, I don't see why Sizzlets won't!

With the QK dies, you do need an additional piece to make up the difference in thickness. I would think the same with new Sizzlets. But if all Sizzlets can work with the Sidekick, then it should work in the orginal Sizzix machine.

I won't be buying another maching but then again, I have a Wishblade , too. I've bought all the regular (thick) dies I'm ever going to. I'll still buy Sizzlets if I think I'll use it alot. Currently, I'm buying Cuttlebug dies.

OK- here's the deal on that - I had just the big machine - and sizzlets DO work, but I find that the more intricate ones do not cut well in the big machine with the converter -for example the ellison thin cut fleur-de-lis - it would cut, but always near the middle it wouldn't cut fully --- then I got the sidekick, and the dies that were giving me troubles cut like butta

Fro those times things don't cut all the way through, place a scrap piece of paper under the paper you want to cut from. This normally solves the problem.

BTW, that problem has more to do with the cutting board than with the converter.

I have the sizzix with the converter and have used both the sizzlets and cuttlebug dies in my machine. I have found that some dies require that I place extra pieces of paper (shims) in order for some of the dies to cut properly. You will need to experiment with the thickness of the shim. I put the paper I want to use down first, then the die and then the shim and I have had zero problems with the thinner dies cutting properly.

The sizzlets that say roller only are a little longer and more intricate need to be used in the roller machine because when you press then slide forward and press even with paper shim, it just will not make a clean cut. I tryed and tryed to play to make them work. The old style press machine is just going out of style. I bought the Cuttlebug Die cutter because it is less expensive and works on all of the sizzix dies. But the new sizzlet dies will work in your sidekick. Just not the press style.

Just to toss in my .02 cents worth. I have a Sizzix press machine with the convertor for the sizzlits. I have originals, (red, yellow, & green). I have the sizzlits, (alphabets and shapes, about everyone they make) I also have the ellison thin dies, (alpha and shapes). All of them work in my sizzix. I have had a few problems with the intricate sizzlit alphas, I simply put a few sheets of folded paper under my cutting board as a shim. Works great. I also have the sizzlit long dies and the ellison extended dies. I use them in my sizzix, I just push them through one section at a time. I also use my QuicKutz , accukutz and cuttlebug dies with absolutely no problem. A shim is all that is needed beneath my cutting board. When the machine stops working altogether I will get another machine, but no until then.

I noticed this too, when I bought a Sizzlit that I "just had to have". I placed some chipboard, that I keep just for that, under the cutting board and they cut just fine.
