Rubber Stamp Storage

How does everyone store their rubber stamps? I have mine on shelves right now but now I have too many and can't see them all!

I store mine in plastic containers from Costco...the type that has those side snap closures, but have already outgrown them and in search of a better way to store mine so I can see what I have w/o having to dig and dig and dig. I was gona put up shelves for them BUT my collection is waaaay to big now. I need the shelves that u see in stores...like Michaels or my local stamp store.
The stamps that have no place now go into a wicker basket till I can figure a way to store them better...what a task to avoid!

I just started putting mine in old cd cases that I took the center out of. Easy to stack and store.

I need the shelves like they have at craft stores too! I keep my clear stamps in CD cases, but I don't want to unmount all my rubber stamps....I want them out so I can see them.

I have my unmounteds in CD cases- the kind like you can get free from a video store or grocery with rentals. Those are clear so you can see what stamps are in it. Then I rubber stamp the name of the set on the binding and put those on shelves. The wood mounts I have in the plastic cat litter tubs ( those big 28 pound size with snap on lid)according to subject- people, animals, plants, words, Holidays... I have a bunch of those because we used to buy the cat litter in them and I just could not throw them away. Much to the dismay of my guy! I started storing craft items in them and then the stamps, I have alot! But those things are stackable and I just put a piece of masking tape on the side and top of the subject contained! I love both systems for my home and will continue to do them this way.

I had a few 2 inch deep shadowboxes build. The shelves are about 6 inches apart to be able to place any size stamp on the shelves. I have a 10 feet wall of shadowboxes and about 2 feet on each side. I have over 1000 rubberstamps and I love to display them because I find the stamp I need at a glance. I will soon upload pictures so you can have an idea.:-)

I have some wooden cassette cases that have three drawers each that pull open from the front. I put my stamps, standing up, in those according to theme. Now when i want to find a certain stamp, all I have to do is open the drawers and look at the picture of the stamps on the fronts of the wood blocks.

I used to have all of mine stacked in a big drawer and I never used them because I hated to have to dig through the drawer. Having them in smaller drawers where they can stand upright is working much better for me now. I would love to display them on those wall type shelves but I have way too many to do that.

Looking for a creative way to store mine, as well. My addiction to stamping has just started, so I don't have too many... YET. HAHA! I love the idea of CD cases for clear stamps. That makes it easy and doesn't take up much space. My concern is for my mounted stamps. I have a few sets from Stampin' Up that I still have in the original packaging, but there has to be an easy way to store my loose stamps that doesn't take up room. I have no more wall space (two monthly wipe off calendars are claiming the bit of wall I have in my craft nook), so needs to be something else.

Looking forward to hearing more suggestions! Gotta love these boards for that.

For all of you looking for rubber stamp storage, visit my gallery. I had shadow boxes build. 2 inches deep. Shelves are 6 inches apart and I can move them up or down depending on the stamps. I am EXTREMELY happy with it because all the stamps are at a glance. Easy to choose the stamp I want. Hope this helps. SEE MY GALLERY for ideas. :-) Liz

Hi Karen, When I had Stampin Up I stored them in the original cases like you do, than I added other brands to fill the case with more of the same or similar subject. I have a bunch of the clear cases that I used to keep various mounteds in according to theme, I could see thru the case to pick out the stamp(s) I wanted easily. I named the subject and stored them stacked up with the name on the cases facing out for easy reading. One thing is they all take some room, just some take less- like unmounteds. But I have mostly mounteds, and do like them as well as umnounteds. I have taken some and changed them over to unmounteds and then put them into CD cases. just a matter of how hard you want to work at it, or how important! to me it's not a huge deal, so when the mood strikes me I remove a few from blocks when I have the cling to put them onto. I work for a company now(The Angel Company) that sells the cling seperately so it is easier to change over.
If anybody wants to buy cling I can help with that (no minimum order) or if anybody wants some of those clear cases to store stamps in I will send them-you just have to pay the shipping

i just purchased some used stamps on ebay havent learned to make card yet. plastic storage containers would be great. and will check angel site thanks lori

I have all my mounted stamps in Iris drawers by category. I have all my unmounted stamps on cling foam in binders. I have some of my clear stamps in cD cases and some in binders still.

I recently bought the Making Memories Embellishment Center shelf for my stamps. Since I organized my mounted stamps on the shelf, I've used them more often. I still have my acrylic stamps in a plastic container but I'm thinking about putting hooks on the bottom of my new shelf and hang them from there.

The best storage for unmounted rubber and clear stamps are the Univenture binders IMO. I had tried CD cases, etc., and nothing works as well as the binders. They are amazing, cheap, and hold a ton! At one point the binders were $1.03 a binder. Sign up for their newsletter, and you won't miss a sale!

They're $1.07 apiece right now, she said, having just ordered some. The shipping charges are kinda brutal, though - good thing the binders are cheap.

I was going to order 10 binders ($10.70) and the shipping was $12, for crying out loud. I cut it back to five binders and $7 shipping - since I'm not even sure I'll like this system I decided to be somewhat reasonable in my shopping for once. At the rate I'm buying unmounted stamps, though, I'll probably be reordering in the very near future.
