Best Cool light grey & pure blue ink for blending (&stamping)?

  • Pinkpop
I am on the hunt for a light very cool grey ink to blend (& sometimes stamp) with.
And a true dark blue with no purple undertone
I have pumice stone d.o. but it is too warm for me.
And chipped sapphire d.o. has too much purple undertone.

I tried a few light grey dye inks (like fog ) but it's not good to blend with.

My colorbox sailboat navy pigment is ok but I don't love the color.

    Any ideas?

If you are willing to experiment, you might want to try a water soluble ink retarder. Retarders slow down the dry time, thus making them blendable. I believe you could stamp your inks on to your non stick mat, add retarder, blend, then apply that mixture to your piece. I think most ink retarders are for acrylic paints and silk screening, but I don't see any reason why you couldn't use the ink retarder with water soluble inks (Tim Holtz distress inks). Here's a link for you to reaearch. Hope this helps. https://m.misterart.com/printmaking/silk-screen-lithography/inks-mediums/sid~36707~/speedball-ink-extender-and-ink-retarder.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwuIWHBhBDEiwACXQYsdWbruhzDKxbx_Ydybg4y6hGD900RrYv1941_0pWFatVRjSt2p2jIBoCQk4QAvD_BwE

That might help blend but I still need to find the right colors!
    Thank you for the idea!

Your welcome. Colors are a matter of personal preference so I really couldn't comment on that. Adding a retarder will likely result in a lighter shade though.
