October 2022 Budget Challenge

Ok, someone (not me) fell asleep, and never started the monthly Challenge.

We are a bunch of serious enablers, I mean budgeteers, here!
Please join in the ribbing, the tempting, competing and the calamity of this thread!
If you go over-budget, we have a lovely plum coloured velvet sofa to sit on and we serve and if wine isn't your thing, we have an incredible margarita machine!

The rules: List your scrappy budget for the whole month. Then list the high priority items that you want to buy this month!
OPTIONAL List something you are NOT allowed to buy all month! (don't say Paper because for some reason that is the death of all budgets)

Tell us how much you spend throughout the month, and keep track of it as you spend. We like details about your shopping around here. No such thing as TMI! You do not have to include costs for adhesives, swaps, storage, gifts or shipping, unless you want to. Please round to the nearest dollar value. Please also tell us your name.

Planners themselves and things like separator pages and page protectors do NOT count but things to pretty them up DO COUNT

Let's see....I'll set my budget at $50 but only because I'm playing in the Secret Santa swap and I am a victim of the one-for-you-one-for-me syndrome. I am NOT allowed to buy paper or any paints/inks/pens/markers/pencils. NONE. I mean it this time.

I'll go with $0 from this point on. Even if I go off budget, I won't buy paper.

Oooh it's birthday month! I'll set my budget at $50 + my free $25.

I won't buy any paper, but I can't be held responsible if Stickles Gel Glitter hops into a shopping cart. I also might get some more of those embossing glazes, or perhaps some more Distress oxides.

My budget will be $100 this month...cause I am headed to a crop tomorrow morning and won't be home til next Monday. Who knows what I will purchase.

I won't buy any paper embellishments, no ribbons, no gems, not glitter, no buttons (do they even sell buttons), and stuff like that.
I will look at stamps, dies, maybe paper as long as its not embellishment shaped stuff.

Does stuff other people are bring you but you have not paid for yet... count??

I have spent a fortune this month already. I made the most of my discounts from the Crop & Create event, but I'm not counting it since the thread wasn't started. Ha!

I'm going with a budget of $150 since next week is the PF Holiday Create & Connect event, and I plan on making the most of my coupon.

Hi Tammy. I'm feeling pretty good. I'm in the middle of my second chemo. Get to have my pump removed tomorrow. I had 3 icky days during my first round, we will see how the second round goes. Still happily crafting though.

Kelly, good to hear you are feeling well enough to craft and enjoy the crop and create. One day I'll join you in that fun. It sounds like a blast. I need to ship DH away for the weekend if I do it though.

Tammy, so sorry you are not feeling well and dealing with issues back home. Big (((hugs))) coming your way.

Sharon, have so much fun at your crop! I think $100 is very reasonable for a crop week spend. You always get inspired by seeing the products used close up and in person.

Angela, Happy Bday! Sometimes those darn things get knocked over into your cart by total accident... I've seen it happen with me! I've been eye-balling that glitter gel too.

Finished up Halloween/Fall cards last night. Now I want to tackle a Dollar tree witch hat wreath. After that, I need to bring photos for my weekend crop in early November. My plan is to make 3 or 4 mini albums for Christmas gifting.

Hi all!

Had some back injections yesterday - tests to see if RF ablation will work. I wasn't optimistic but afterwards we went out toe eat and then shop and the back felt pretty good. Had a better night sleep too and energy this morning. It wouldn't last but this means that the ablation might.

As for my budget - I spent $17 at HL today (which does not include albums, page protectors and my neutral cardstock). On the plus side I delivered a bunch of purged stash to a friend whose daughter is a teacher. Thinking like LIs - maybe I should get a credit for that . I also have some little stamps in my cart at Altenew that I want to buy.

Budget - $75 - $17/75 right now.

Just found this one now! How did I miss it! I haven't been in my craft room much in October because dh got COVID and was banished to the basement. We just let him out today so I am down here catching up now. I can check the site on the lap top but my pictures auto download to my desk top so I wasn't posting anything I had previously done.

Anyway! $100 plus my birthday month free money please!

A whole weekend went by with no spending for me.
I did rack up extra points at ACOT.
Had a busy but fun weekend:
Made a dollar tree witch's hat at my friend's house, took a fall walk, went to some yard sales & out to breakfast with DH.
Our final window got replaced yesterday and he will do the finish work today. Can't believe how much warmer it is downstairs.

Amanda, sorry DH had Covid. Hope he's feeling better.
Kelly, so glad you enjoyed: spending or the making ?
Susan, is the injection still working? Hope you get some relief if you go for the ablation.
Sharon, sure you are having a blast in VA right now!

Maria, the test injections only last for 24 to 48 hrs max. They are just to see if the ablation at those spots would work. Insurance requires a second round of test injections before they will approve the RF ablation - that's on Oct 25th. Then I have to have the evaluation with the doctor before scheduling the ablation. All these steps that have be dealt with before getting what I need.

I forgot Canadian Thanksgiving too - happy belated!

Tired today - spent yesterday food shopping (big shopping every 12-14 days) and putting away then getting meals. Did not sleep well - pain waking me up. Going to go back to taking a muscle relaxer before bed.

Maria and Lis - you made comments about one of the papers I am using for Halloween cards - It is Memory-Place (made in Japan) - Halloween in Dreamland. I got the sheet with the cut apart cards so I could make Halloween cards with them. Wanted something different.

No more spending - as yet.

Well, I bought some more storage envelopes but since they are storage, they don't count. I put all my completed layouts into the ones I already had. I also put a label in the corner with the album they're supposed to go in. Now my next step is to sort them into albums. I think I need page protectors for Christmas.

Anyone know if there's a different brand that fits K&Company albums? I'll need it for my daughter and son's baby books.

Angela, are the albums 3 ring binders or post bound? I think sb.com makes universal 3 rings now.

Sharon, Have fun at your local crop. Can't wait for my weekend in beginning of November then I'll go to an all day crop the Saturday after. Want to complete holiday gift albums so will need the time.

No shopping at all. Too dang busy. Schedule is ever changing. The only shopping that will be done would be groceries and possibly new gym shoes.

Still haven't downloaded pictures I want to scrap, but have taken a few with the recently found camera.

The ones for baby books are post bound. I would switch to 3-rings, but the albums are so cute - Winnie the Pooh themed cover. I just can't give them up. (Back story: the nursery was Winnie the Pooh themed for both of them, so it kind of just followed the theme.)

I suppose an alternative is to use the pages I have, and try and decorate a 3 ring to match? I wonder if that would be easy or hard to do.... now I'm getting ideas.

I feel like I'm spending because I'm getting a package a day but some of it is for my SS elf. Oh! I bought two dies - I am out $15. I'll have to look to see what new goodies I have on my desk and tally it all up. I'm trying to be reallllly good and not look at the pretty new Christmas collections and shiny things. It's so hard!

Winnie the Pooh! I still have my pillowcase from when I was 5 - which is over a half-century ago! (And it's in pretty good shape!)

As soon as I think I am good at not spending - something grabs me! This time it was Altenew's 45% off washi tape sale 72 hours. I love their washi - it goes on well, great quality, and they have wide washi! Made in China but it is the only tape I buy now. Got 4 tapes - 2 wide (4-4.5 inches) - one with black dots (will make great card and page backgrounds) and a midnight blue with gold (lovely). Then there were 2 3/4 inch gold foil ones- gold dots and gold stripes. Got special yellow enamel dots ($2.50) too.

All in all - out $28 not including shipping. $56/$75. It is halfway through October - I don't want to spend any more.

So they used to make 3 ring binders that you could decorate. I had one and think I sold it at the scrap tag sale last summer. I don't remember the brand.
If you love the post bound, use them. I am sure you can find refills on amazon/etsy/ebay if not on a scrapbook store site.
