My Dotto Dispenser is the WORST

Oh I totally love mine! I had a similar problem with it not taking the paper after the adhesive came off and opened it up to "fix" it. There is a little stop under the wheel that the used up paper winds up on... I "broke" that out and now it works fine.. I never have problems with it anymore.

I use undo to clean around the opening where the adhesive comes out, and to clean the wheel that the adhesive goes over while you press down on it.

My problem is with the permanent ones. My others...and I have one of each colour, I think, lol...I only use the temporary roll on stuff. But the permant is sticker and gummier, and it stops up the roller. Even taking it out and cleaning it, if I put the permanent back in, it just gums up again.

So I've started using only the temporary roll ons, and it's working fine.

I think I fixed it! I took the used up part of the roll out and cleaned out some residue - and it works again! Thanks you guys!! I'm very happy!!

hhhmm...I will have to try that! I too have the temporary adhesive and it never gets stuck BUT my stuff falls off too easily. I will try the suggestions here because I really do love the adhesive..it is the best out the IMO!!! THANKS!!!

Xyron also makes one similar to the Herma dispensers that works really well. I have never had a single problem with that one.

I second favorite adhesive right now is the Scitch brand 3M Double sided adhesive tape pen. It looks like this:

I hardly ever use my Dotto dispenser, just to apply temporary adhesive to things that go through the printer. Works ok up til now though! I loooooooove my CM tape runner, it's my adhesive of choice.

I use that too Janice! I also have problems with my temp dotto. It gums up. So I rarely use that now, which is too bad. I really like it when it works.

I just bought this tape dispenser that I need to warn you about! It's from Duck??? Anyway, it was only $3, which should have been my first tip off. But after two seconds of using it, the tape ripped inside the dispenser and wouldn't roll up any longer!
The problem is that I bought TWO of them. Ugh

I have a pretty new dotto dispenser (permanent) - I've only used it a few weeks. Now it won't roll on the paper anymore. It just slides - no mater how hard I press or at what angle. No adhesive will come out when it slides... it is so aggravating. I won't buy one again - this is a warning to anyone else who might buy one.

Yes, they have a very bad reputation. The first one I had worked great, and at about the third refill it just wouldn't roll. Bought several more and the same thing happened, so I'm done with them.

I emailed EK Success - we'll see what they say. I don't like it when I feel ripped off!

I have a dotto and I hate the thing

It always gets clogged and the stupid thing dont work.

I have gone through atleast 5 of those.. the don't work after a while and it drives me NUTS!!

I have one too and it is my least favorite adhesive. Good idea, but poorly engineered.

I am on my first one, and it did that. Turns out the paper had just spun off the wheel inside. I put it back in, which was not the easiest, but it worked after that.

I have four dotto dispensers that I have had for a range of 4 years to 6 months. All of them work fine. Everynow and then it gets a little gummed up with adhesive residue, but I just clean it off and then it is fine. I love mine!

I have tried several similar adhesives and I keep coming back to my hermie/dotto!

Mine does the same thing but all I do is what Janice does, clean 'em and off we go but I do like my Thermoweb better

mine does the same thing, too! But I love that dispenser the best so it is a shame! I have also had to buy 3 corner rounders from EK Success b/c they keep falling apart! I may have to let them know..I love it the best b/c of the way it works but I should not be going through 1 every month.

Mine just recently started where the tape doesn't want to roll up after the glue is gone. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

This may be a stupid question - but how do you "clean them off"? I didn't notice anywhere to clean it. I opened it up, and it seems like it is on the wheel fine. I wish I could fix it just to use it up and not feel like my money was spent for nothing.

I love the adhesive a lot, if only the dispenser would work properly!

I did the EXACT same thing!!!! It's like a little ring with a piece poking up from it, just take it out. It is my favorite dispenser/adhesive and I have had it for a year and a half.

CreativeMemories Tape runners are hands down the best. The adhesive comes out smoothly, i rarey get a jam, easy to apply as much or as little as you want. things stay down really well but in the event that you need to remove or move it, you can without completely destroying it.

This is exactly what I did! I work at an LSS and I tell people to "break" it, and then it works fine. This is only a problem with the permanent one as far as I can tell. I have never had a problem with my repositionable one. I have been using hermies for about 6 years. Wouldn't use anything else!

MINE WON'T WORK AGAIN - I tossed it in the trash. There were little gummy paste balls all over it too. I'll buy one of the ones you guys recommend. Augh. Live and Learn.
