Matchbooks

Thanks for all the help!! I made one last night!! I made the cover from cardstock (white Bazzill). Then I cut a strip of 12 x 12 pp, into a strip a little more narrow than my Bazzill cover. So, the strip was 12" long. I used 6 pics, adhered them to the strip - accordian folded it, with a little extra left at the bottom, so that it could be included in the staple of the cover. Now, when you open it, you have to grab the pretty ribbon, which is at the top of the accordian, to pull out the sleeve of pictures.

I LOVE IT!! I decorated outside (on the back put the date of the picture) on the inside of the cover, I put the kids ages, and what they were doing. Gave it to my mom today, and she FLIPPED out over it! It took like, an hour to do. And that's becuase it was my first try. I can do it quicker now! Not sure if the actual accordian/guts of it are right, or put in there the way they are supposed to be, but hey ,it worked and it's adorable!

Gonna make many more of these!

Well where's the picture????

ok, I feel like a complete IDIOT...BUT, I so want to do a matchbook. However, I can not get my mind to wrap around the concept of how to make one! I saw the matchbook swap, and went to the web page that was recommended there. Still, this did not help me. I have viewed pictures, searched every where I can think to search! How do you get the actual middle part, the accordian part, in there?!?!? Do you adhere it somehow? Or is the whole thing folded?? Lord, you'd think I could figure this out! lol

Any help - in detail, minute detail, - would be greatly appreciated!

I just got the cutest matchbook card from Deazine so I've seen one, but have never made one.

If you click on and super enlarge on this matchbook, you can see that the accordian insert is stapled in the matchbook.

Good luck. Hopefully an expert will pop in here an help you. You're desperation is awfully cute though.

you can actually buy premade matchbooks at the LSS..
I bought one and then i used it as a pattern to make more..but i dont have any pictures!! I think in the Teach one thread it had directions..

thanks dragonflymama for linking mine but I am no expert! I actuallt just glued mine in and the staples are holding ribbon on in the front so I guess I have extra coverage. But I just bought a matchbook and measured and decidied how big I wanted the middle. Word of advice don't stuff to full or you won't be able to close it! I learned my lesson!

Well, it's BEAUTIFUL!!!!! See.....I knew an expert would pop in here eventually.
