Altered Rolodex

I was just wondering what you would use an altered rolodex for. I have seen them in magazines and I am curious.

I saw some at a scrap fair once and they had them like the months and you could put in special days like bdays and stuff. I made one but didn't like the way it looked. I would love to see some that are done.

You know, I alter a lot of my office supplies... they all match in color and theme - my paper clip holder, clip board, pen cup, etc...

I have seen a variety of things. One that I loved was for passwords and other things she needed to remember. I always feel I am forgetting all the darn passwords. I mean sb.com has a login and pass word, other sites I chat at do, email does, my credit card does, sites for jobs and freecyle...list keeps going. There are so many darn things like that to remember that you really only use at the computer. So she made a cute rolodex and put a fun quote related to each letter and then after the letter was the password or whatever for that letter.

I have also seen it as a birthday/anniversaries reminder.

I have one that has addresses and phone numbers of my sb.com friends. I have been collecting them from pals here that make them for me and I make something for them in return!

There is an altered rolodex swap here that's a lot of fun. I collect them and look at them for inspiration- they're so cool!

OK, I read this as altered Rolex! I thought "who the heck is going to alter a Rolex watch?"

I never thought about altering my rolodex. I think it is ugly so I hide my at work in my drawer. Thanks for the idea.

I started to alter mine (I have the base painted to match my the rest of my soon to be new scrap room). I plan to make a small album out of mine with all of the extra "smaller" pictures I have printed over the last 10 years but didn't end up using on LO's. It will be a "desktop mini album".

I use mine as always, with few differnces. I keep all addresses and phone #'s, birthdays, anniversary's, notes, etc. And I try to include a small pic of each, such as for the addy and phone, I put a pic of who it is. I use it all the time, and I love that is so inspirational to look at. Much better than flipping through boring, plain pages!

I've thought about altering one and using it as a clear stamp holder. The only think that stops me is that I'd only be able to put one or two stamps on per page thingy, and that's a lot of work considering how many clear stamps I have.

I altered one to use as an actual address book! What a concept! I love the way it looks. I'm thinking about doing another one as an important date reminder.

I have seen them decorated with a theme....say Christmas or Halloween and then pictures of that ocassion were added, I have also seem it used to keep track of sb supplies like Sizzix dies or rubber stamps, I have seen it as a quote 'o' dex (a quote a day) and a perpetual calendar oh and as a place to keep sketches....there are so many uses actually when you think about it. Just try and think Outside the Box .

There is also a company called Zsiage that sells one that can be altered and it is called Scrap O Dex ...maybe you can google it.

I use mine for website addresses and passwords. Works great!!

I actually thought about making one of these too...I saw one on here a little bit ago made for quotes and thought that was a wonderful thing. I am probably going to end up with 10 of these from all the great ideas!!!

(By the way, I grew up in RC! Westside-went to sophomore year at Stevens before moving to AZ.)

I have a Rolodex (new still in package--had for a year) and have thought about altering it. I'm going to have to do this and put it on my desk at work. I already altered a pen/pencil caddy at work and ended up making two more for my coworkers.

This would be really handy for all the business cards, ordering info, and site information picked up at trade shows and such. I've got stacks of the cards all over the place, and I haven't done anything yet for storage.

I saw somebodys scraproom pic that had a roladex that they used to catalog their stamps with. so the cards were stamped and divided up into sections. I thought about that so I know what I'm looking for when I go digging through all my stamps!!

i just joined a quote swap that is done on rolodex cards! the only problem is that its for 3x5 cards and the rolodex's that i find are all too small! i would love to be able to find one to alter! someone suggested thrift stores and i love thrift stores so i will have to keep an eye out!
