Setting Eyelets

Hello. New to the paper crafting world and trying to set eyelets/MMsnaps.... I can not get them to work...
Have the MM eyelet setter (ran out today and bought the one with 4 attatchments) and using MM snaps and eyelets. Have the self healing pad... I think that I am doing it all right... but still not working...
HELP!!

I'm not sure this will help, but make sure you are hitting it hard enough. Little taps with the hammer won't work. Also, I have a lot more luck with the cone-shaped tip than the regular eyelet-setting tip. Hope that helps!

There are a ton of threads on setting eyelets (you can do a search and get a LOT more info).

Here are some tips I've found:

I use the medium size MM "flower-shaped" setting tip (I've never used the cone shape for anything).

Set on a hard surface like a counter top or hard floor (not the carpeted floor--it gives too much)

I use a hard plastic cutting board.

Use a regular size hammer (not those tiny craft hammers) -and, as Jen mentioned, give it a couple of good, hard whacks.

Good luck. It's really not hard (my daughter starting setting her own at 8 years old).
Once you get it down, eyelets are so great!

You will get the hang off it. It is just that some of the eyelets/snaps set easier than others. I have mostly MM eyelets and snaps, but find that they are much harder to set than Stampin Up eyelets (for example). Also, I find that the snaps are harder to set than the eyelets.

You will get your rhythm. And, as Linda says, using a hard plastic cutting board works well for those harder to set embellishments. Good luck with your embellishing-it is so much fun.
