Stampin' Up

OK. I just got a Stampin' Up catalog. I'm loving the stamps.

I have multiple questions.

1. How much of a pain is it to cut and mount them?
2. How hard is it to align the sticker on top of the block?
3. Is it smarter to just leave them unmounted, and use one of the acrylic blocks as a temporary mount (as I've heard being done with 2-sided tape)?
4. Are they as nice as they seem? Are they good quality?

I just recently signed on with Stampin Up because I fell in love with the stamps. I used my first stamp in November and have enjoyed their products so much.

I don't have any problems mounting my stamps or putting the stickers on the blocks. I tend to center my stamp and sticker on the block, but I know people to put them near the top edge of the block or to one side depending on if they are left or right handed. I always mount mine and store them in the box they come with. I put the title of stamp from the sticker page on the end of the box so I know what is in it.

I have never heard of using double sided tape as a temporary mount. So I can't comment on that.

I love these stamps and think the quality is great. I tried cheaper ones, but the pictures and shapes weren't as clear. Also I was paying for a single stamp when I could get a set the would make my layouts that much nicer.

So I signed on and will have my first party on the 21st. I can't wait.

Hi. I have been using Stampin Up stamps for years and am also signing up to be a consultant (taking advantage of the Sell-A-Bration offer, he he) I also use other manufacturers stamps, pads and paper. I find that the stamps are not hard to cut out (I kind of find it relaxing) as long as you have a pair of good scissors (Kai and the Stampin Up ones are good)
I use my unmounted stamps with acrylic blocks and glue sticks but my Stampin Up stamps I mount onto the wood block, mainly because they come with the foam already adhered to them, and the appropiately sized wood blocks. If you wanted to use them as unmounteds then you would have to remove the foam with Undu Adhesive Remover. Most people use unmounted to save space and money but if you don't have a problem with space, and since its not an option not to purchase the wood mounts that they come with, it's probably easier to just mount them.
They are very good quality. Deeply etched rubber. I use other stamps from various companies and find that they definitely meet industry standards. I think that they are the best value on the market for mounted stamps. -Laura
