The Water look

I was looking through a sb magazine and saw a LO and somehow used something to make it look like water had been splashed onto the page. Does anyone know how to create this?

P.S. I thought about using a glue gun, but I don't think that would work due to the fact that hot glue dries cloudy, not clear.

There is a product called 3-d Crystal Lacquer, or just Crystal Lacquer that dries raised, clear and shiny and is also I believe acid free. I was just looking at it online at a couple of rubber stamping sites. I just googled in 'crystal lacquer' and several sites that sold it came up. I also think that they sell it at A.C.Moore.

would think you might be able to get the same effect with a texture stamp using a versamark pad and clear embossing powder. May need to do a couple coats to get nice thick droplets. I have seen something like this done also and I had sssumed that was how they did it??? Good luck and make sure to share with us what you accomplish!

I am looking for crystal lacquer and we don't have an AC Moores close by. Do you know where I can find it online? I have searched here at sb.com and they don't carry it along with a couple of other larger on-line stores. I have checked M's and JoAnn's and neither of the store's employees have a clue of what Crystal Lacquer is let alone know if they carry it. Please pm me if you know where I can get it on-line. TIA!

FSCgal: If you can get a hold of a Stampin' Up! demostrator, you can order Crystal Effects. It's the same as Crystal Laquer.

I checked with my A.C. Moore. They do not have it. However they suggested clear acrylic paint. Does anyone know if this would work? Acid free?

I also checked with my local Wal-mart, the lady said they don't have it. She did mention a product that you can put in a vase to look like water. It hardens and dries clear. I wonder if this would work?

I found another product called:
Aleene's Paper Glaze - it is a Creating Keepsakes approved product and of course is acid free

I bought it and I tried it out. This works great and can't wait to try it on a LO.

I think Diamond Glaze might also work. It is clear and dries raised - it can also have colors added to it, inks I think, that would give it different colors.

I was wondering if the Aileen paper glaze might work also. I went to A.C.Moore and they didn't have the Crystal Effects, but they did have the Glossy Glaze by Ranger, so I picked it up. Also, I read that the Diamond Glaze by judikins gave the same kind of effect. And I also read an article in a recent scrapbooking magazine about the Crystal Effects. I'm guessing all of these products pretty much do the same thing. Let us know how it works out for you on your layout.

the glossy glaze was all that I could find in my area.

Is the Crystal effects used to put in vases? I think I may have seen that.

The Crystal Effects to my knowledge is the Stampin' Up! name for their clear laquer. I imagine it all works the same.

Now that I found the glaze. I want to tint it. Would it be safe to use food coloring? I want it to be a tinted but still transparent.

there's another product called Diamond Glaze that can have the same affect. we have it here at my LSS, craft stores and stamping stores.

I have made a water look with UTEE. You can make dropplets or make it look like water running down a window.

For the dropplets - just have little piles of the UTEE and then emboss it. you can change the color by using different colors of ink.

For the rain on the window I did the following. I embossed UTEE onto a slide mount and while I was heating it up, I tipped the mount vertical. As the UTEE got hot it ran a bit. It looks like flowing water.

Pretty fun to work with as well

I was going to suggest the clear UTEE. You can build up the layers as thick as you need.
