Basic supplies

Hey everyone. I'm doing some things with our local Youth Council and I have suggested they either do a "Council" scrapbook or a bunch of individual 6x6 or 8x8 albums. I have a few questions for you guys though.

1. Which do you think would be better - 1 large 12x12 Council scrapbook or individual smaller books?

2. What supplies do you think they need to get - besides tools? I'm planning on letting them use my tools at the meetings I'm at, so they won't need any of those. I know if the ones below and will add any that are posted.

3. What do you think the Coordinator should budget for this "task"? She said she put in $100, but I'm thinking she'll need more. I'm going to talk to our LSS owner to see if she can donate any paper, adhesive, or anything.

OK the things I know they will need are:

• Scrapbook (either 12x12, 6x6, or 8x8, depending on what they decide to do) with page protectors
  
• Adhesive enough for them to share
  
• Paper - some patterned, some cardstock, etc

You'll need some acid free pens to journal.

i have been picking up trim at local fabric stores. that is fun.

do you have enough scissors for them to use?

Basic ribbons? Plain eyelets (if you have an eyelet setter for them to use)?

If you decide to go with individual albums, I've seen some 6 x 6's at Michaels for only $4. If you do one big group album, you could scan it and burn cds for other members.

paint and foam stamps......you will also need a trimmer or two!!!

paper - get slabs or stacks at Micheals or Joanns with a 40 or 50% off coupon. That will get you lots of paper, cheap. Maybe the kids that will be doing the scrapping could bring some things. you could give them a list of things that they may have on hand at home. Bottlecaps, ribbon, twine, scissors, etc.

what about stickers? The dollar stores have tons of them. number and letter stickers would be nice too.

I think I would go with the smaller albums so each kid could have their own. Of course, depending on how many kids are in the council, that could be cost prohibitive. If there are too many, then the suggestion by Karen to make a single 12 x 12 and burn cd's would be the way to go. Rather than photographing the lo's, I like to go to one of my LSS and scan them. I use a slightly higher resolution (300 DPI) when scanning, as this gives greater clarity and crispness. This will give a larger image size; but, it can always be manipulated down.
