No-Picture Pages

Do any of you have pages in your books without pictures? I'd love to see the layouts.

I take very few pictures, so most of my pages are filled with other memorabilia (cards and letters, lots and lots of journaling, etc.)

I know it definitely isn't the normal style of scrapping, but I wondered if any of you had done any no-picture pages that I could see.

I do lots of non-picture pages, especially in my heritage albums. For example, at http://www.ourtimelines.com you can give the birth and current date (or death date) of an ancestor and get a year-by-year download of the main current events of those years. I also visit history sites, music sites and print copies of flags, old pictures, style of dress, and music from whatever era I am scrapbooking. On the pages for my great grandfather, I have printed poetry from the War Between the States and given each poem a whole page decorated by paintings from that war. In my son's albums (birth to present...he's 42), I have a whole page giving the Dallas Cowboy Statistics and superbowl information along with prints of his favorite Cowboy players and just one photo of my son with a little section of his hair shaved and a Dallas star painted on for a superbowl game. He loves the Cowboys and named his son "Dallas." I don't particularly like "cute" pages except for photos of young children. Pages about adults are more interesting to me if they provide the flavor and feeling of whatever era that photo is from whether it is the 1800's or the 1950's. When we vacation, we don't take many pictures either, but I use the brochures and other memorabilia from wherever we were along with only one or two pictures. I sometimes go on-line to get even more information about the place. To me, it makes the layouts more interesting than to have just a title, a bunch of photos and a little journaling.

I scrap my poetry- have an album that will soon be 2 devoted to this... each poem gets a page with images in the background pulled from the text.. mostly I use symbols and not pictures for this..

I have also scrapbooked things using photos and other images taht aren't of people adn done major jornalling on some things.. I like the ideas mentioned here for the people I don't have pictures of I want to put in the heritage album.. thanks guys!

I do a few "no-picture" pages in my albums. I have Dedication pages in each of my daughter's albums, where I've written a letter to them and included a special poem. I also have a page in one that tells the story of what a surprise it was when we found out we were expecting her ... and the fun story of how I broke the news to her dad.

I've also done one layout with a pocket-page on the left-side containing my lists and menus for one of our re-enactment camping trips - and on the right-side a long journaled story about the difficulties we Moms have in preparing and handling the work end of this activity. Turns out we ALL feel the same, while all the time we thought everyone else had things completely under control!

I think these types of pages are VERY IMPORTANT in albums ... and they also add variety from the photo-journal pages.

All of my albums have title pages without pictures. It never even occurred to me to put pictures on those. In my sorority scrapbook I have a two page layout that has no pictures either. I found this great little essay on the Internet called "I am a Sorority B****" which basically outlines every single stereotype about sorority girls, just about. I don't fit hardly any of these, and neither do most of my friends, but part of being in the sorority is putting up with the stereotypes people have of you, so I felt this was great to put in that scrapbook. I printed it out on acid free paper, put a border along the bottom, and embellished the pages with lots of flower punchies. I really liked the way it turned out!

I do TONS of no picture pages (Most of my childhood pictures were destroyed in a flood)... and lots of Journal pages as well. I love the paper dolls that Stamping Station has, and a lot of times, incorporate them.
One of my favorite pages uses "my big idea" stickers to tell of all the things I remember about doing gymnastics in elementary school. It turned out really cute, and shares lots of little memories, even without pictures of me doing cartwheels.
I save tons of little things... I did a page about my first date with my now husband using the movie stubs I still had. (After all, I'm not sure I ever would have got a second date if I had been snapping pictures of him the whole date.)

Here is a link to one I did. (It's the second layout on the site). It's actually an essay my DH wrote while in medical school on Loss. My favorite thing he's ever written. I printed it out scaled down so I could fit 4 pages to one 8.5x11 sheet, and left room. Maybe this will give a little spark for you.
