I do the same thing with Yankee Candle jars. The candles are so expensive, I refuse to throw the jars away! Especially the newer jars with the metal lids. They are so much easier to use for flowers and ribbon and look so nice lined up in a row!

I have done that with jelly jars. Strawberry: reds/pinks..etc...blueberry: blues...great idea and they look wonderful!!
