When my kids were very small I purchased the little characters that are on these two pages - the Indians in the canoe, the pilgrims, the two separate Indians, Miles Standish with his foot on Plymouth rock, the Mayflower ship - several other pieces. They have been on the table every year since my boys were little.
They are still on the table every Thanksgiving. John and Joe went through a stage where they wanted to play with them at the table and I had to fuss at them.
On year we had a table full of people and John held the canoe with the two pilgrims over the sweet potato casserole like he was going to float it to tease his brother. I snapped at him, "Do not hold that over the sweet potatoes and it made him jump enough to let go. I had to get up from the table and wash melted marshmallows off the bottom of the canoe.
The boys are close to 40 now so those little ceramic or glass figurines have seen a lot of Thanksgivings.
I've used this Thanksgiving tablecloth for nearly as long every year.
