FOR MY BOM BOOK:
When asked what season I felt I was in at this time in my life, it really got me to thinking. I consider birth to graduation as winter. I was safely protected and loved while the world around me was cold and dangerous. Then came graduation from high school and marriage at eighteen. This was my spring with all the excitement of a new love and a new independence. I had a beautiful summer of a warm family with the birth of my two daughters and then autumn as things started to die in my marriage. Next, I faced another bitter winter, much harsher and severe compared to the first winter because although my family stood as my support, they could no longer protect me from the reality of life during the storms. Winter started to lose some of its fury as the girls graduated from high school and successfully began their own springs. Then in 2001, spring returned. I married a wonderful, calm and gentle man and retired from a stressful career and begin living with renewed appreciation and feelings for life. I am beginning to settle into a warm and friendly summer, but think I'll hang onto spring just a little longer. I like it here! Photo taken: 09/26/2001, Journaled: 02/11/2014
