I definitely bit off more than I could chew Thanksgiving of 2012. I had just had my DD the month before and yet I also wanted to host the holiday at my house for the first time. So we moved the living room furniture and the extra big screen outside (for football noise control) and set up multiple tables for one long dinner table across the living room. That part I really liked and might try to do again. It was fun having everyone together...all the conversations happening at the same time and connecting together in waves down the table.
The part I wouldn't do again, is as much cooking during the day. I will either pre-cook whatever I can or I will let others bring more sides. I was so tired after the meal was finished I dropped the glass lid to the crock pot which shattered all over the floor. Then 20 minutes later I dropped a little glass dish...which also shattered all over the floor. At that point I was asked to leave the kitchen and enjoyed sitting in the oversized armchair and cuddling with my newborn. She might have been part of the reason why I was so tired too.
Thanks for spreading positivity!
