There was that time, as a teenager you wanted to impress a girl you were dating. You went downhill skiing with her, not telling her you had never skied before. After surviving a terrifying flight down the first chair run not knowing how to safely fall or stop, you hung up your skiis… at least for awhile. You loved to waterski, camp and hunt. Then when I was in 9th grade, I took up skiing. You couldn't be outdone by your 14-year-old daughter, so you learned to ski too, at the age of 40. Then when I was in college, I decided to take up sky-diving. The gauntlet was dropped and off you went to try out parachuting from a plane at age 44. But in later years as your body started slowing down and becoming compromised by your emphasema caused by too many years of smoking, a habit picked up as a teen to be cool, you made a wish be known of something you had always wanted to try…hot air ballooning. So, for your 59th birthday, I bought you a sunset balloon ride, champagne included. You were ectastic! A year later you took on the biggest adventure of all–death. But your child-like enthusiasm for life will always be remembered as your legacy and of course, the determination of not ever being outdone, especially by a girl. Love you Dad .
