There was no telling whether you'd like the beach or not, but we were hoping for the best. I sat you on the blanket and surrounded you with a bunch of toys. You paid no attention to them as the sand had already gotten your attention. You didn't know what to make of it and began to explore its rough texture. You were actually pretty good at not getting it in your mouth. When you began to get fussy, I decided to introduce you to the water. James, you absolutely loved the ocean.
You squealed with laughter and literally
tried to jump out of my arms into the waves.
If we set you down at the water's edge, you
began to crawl toward and into the ocean,
not caring about the laps of water spraying in
your face. That’s my beach boy! (June, 28, 2005)
