Tuesday, June 10th, 2014 – We had an early breakfast at the Waffle House (Generra insisted on treating us) and then we went back to the Sail Port and spent almost 3 hours in the pool.

That was long enough for us to both get nice and pink. Okay, maybe I was a little more red – but neither us was hurting or feeling any pain from all the sun.

We got out of the pool right before we had to check out of the hotel so we could shower and change in our room before turning the key in.

Lunch was at Taco Bell on MacDill. After shopping for munchies to eat on the plane, we made it to the passenger terminal in plenty of time. However, it was raining very hard and there was lightening in the distance so the plane was not able to leave. Even after the storm passed the lightening was still in the distance so we had to wait over 2 hours before they would board us for the flight.

We could see planes taking off constantly from the airport in Tampa and I was a bit grumpy – “how come they can take off and we can't?” I got my answer very quickly. “They are commercial planes and are pretty much safe from lightening. It isn't going to bother them.”

“We will be flying on a tanker plane which is a cylinder that will be filled with gas to fuel other planes while they are in the air. We will not be safe if lightening hits us.” Now waiting until the lightening stopped sounded like a good idea!

We were able to board and leave around 11:00PM and had a nice, uneventful flight.

Usually the military Space-A system is uncomplicated and without glitches but this time it was frustrating just to get on the plane. However, we were safe and the price was right. You can't complain when someone gives you international flights for free and I know we are very lucky to be able to travel like this for no charge!

This is crazy. It is Tuesday night. Three nights ago we decided we were going to England - it hadn't even been suggested before then! And now we are in a military tanker plane ready to land in a few hours!

This gives a whole new meaning to the word spontaneity!
