I was prepping my Halloween Stash for creating and came across a Nested Webs Die Set from Whimsy from last Halloween. We had just been doing a Christmas in July event, so my brain was still there and I remember seeing some umbrella creations in recent months and had an 'aha' moment with this Webs Die Set. So began the idea for this card, a Kiwi Summer Christmas with Santa taking a well deserved break under a big sun umbrella. I used a Giraffe stencil to create the watery effect of the pool and a Bricks stencil for the pool side tiles. I used some Washi Tape for the pool edge and to delineate between the water and tiles. I drew a little towel for my Santa image to lay upon. I was pleased this set from Krista Heij-Barber had images that worked from the 'overhead' perspective. I meant to add some shading to the wee floating crab. Will do that before sending the card. Just to accentuate that he's floating on the water. Those little details can make such a big difference. I stamped the sentiment in VersaFine Clair Nocturne Ink. I propped the brolly up at the top end with an acetate spring, folded from clear acetate, to give the brolly some height at that end and allow the recipient to peek under the brolly for a glimpse and Santa on his hollybobs. I mounted the finished design onto a top folded cardbase made from Concord and 9th Clementine Cardstock.
